I went straight into ‘Hunting Adeline’ after reading the cliffhanger from ‘Haunting Adeline’ and I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, I would go as far as to say that ‘Haunting’ sets up the world and characters for ‘Hunting’ to reveal the true story. Readers loved how the author writes morally grey characters, so Zade turned out to be Booktok choice of book boyfriend.

I will say that I left this book with a few unanswered questions (especially if Adeline and Zade eventually adopted little Sarah) but I have hope that we’ll learn more at a later date from the prospective of other characters. Well, I’ve finished part one and Addie has been rescued. I’m only 50% through this book, and I’m wondering if it’s really worth it to finish that last half? This book is not a romance book. It is a dark horror that delves into the bowels of humanity and will remake your own moral compass. THIS BOOK IS REALITY.

We see the side to Zade we knew was hiding in there. Addie hadn't seen that side of him yet, she had only seen his jagged pieces. Zade stands strong behind her and holds her up when she falters. He is patient, he is loving, and he will wait until the end of the world for her if he has to. There is no force or pressure. The Zade from book 1 regarding their s*xual encounters is gone. He doesn't take and watch her body for responses he lets her set the pace. He said in book one that she "holds my life in the palm of her hand, she’s just incapable of seeing it that way" and this is proven in this book. He lives for her and slowly she starts to see that no matter what her inner thoughts and feelings tell her from her trauma he will never leave her.

HA2 is not creepy stalker romance where you are questioning your morals but still rooting for Zade. This is Adeline's survival journey and coping with the trauma from all the suffering she had been through. It's dark, cruel, unapologetic, raw and very hard to read. I am a woman without triggers and this book still DESTROYED me. You're gonna feel everything that happens to Addie and it will make you cry. You will be sad and frustrated from seeing how helpless Zade is in his mission to find her. You're gonna be on rollercoster of emotions. Heartbreak, anger, sadness, sorrow and love.
