For larger spills on glass or plastic, often I will let it dry and then peel it off, or you can scoop it up with a paper towel and then do the damp cloth bit when there is less to manage. It is really easy to clean up Mod Podge since it is a water based glue. Simply use a damp cloth if you get a wee bit somewhere you don't want it.
