Right of Way – Cost 4: You can claim an already-claimed route. You must immediately claim the route when you take this card, and after you have claimed it you return the card to the table. In other words, you need to pay each time you use this card. You just put your trains next to those of the other player. Again, the artwork on the cards is of a good standard. But when playing this game you will have to use the train cards from the original game and not the ones in the box.

When one player gets down to two or fewer trains left at the end of their turn, each player, including that player, gets one final turn. The game then ends and it is time to see who has won!The UK side of the map throws technology into the mix. At the beginning of the game, players will only be able to build tiny routes in England. But the more they build as the game goes on, the more tech they’ll have available to use. These replace the bonus points given for the longest routes. At final scoring, each player receives points depending upon 2 factors: the number of players and the number of merchandise cards. The player with the most gets the most points and each subsequent player gets less. The United Kingdom half of this map collection introduces the concept of technology. At the start of the game, players can build only one- and two-train routes and only in England. By spending wild cards, players gain the ability to build routes three trains long or longer, in addition to being able to build ferries across water and build train routes in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Players can also buy bonus cards that allow them to score extra points for taking certain actions during play. Despite the name, the map covers both the UK and the Republic of Ireland, that is, the islands of Great Britain and Ireland.

Some players like to add up the points for the routes they claim at game end, rather than each time a route is claimed. The non-USA maps (and any expansions you’re using) remain available; if they include a route that goes through or into one of the new states, then it’s still there! This means that you can now take your train all over North America and beyond!Allows you to claim 4, 5, and 6 space routes. The Mechanical Stoker is still needed to claim 3 space routes. on at least one of the spaces making the route. To claim a Ferry Route, a player must play a Locomotive card for each Locomotive symbol on the route, and the usual set of cards of the proper color for the remaining spaces of that Ferry Route. Now this is a thing of beauty. The UK side depicts the British Isles (and a little bit of France) in a gorgeous watercolour style giving the whole place a mystical, otherworldly feel. Even Nessie gets a cheeky look-in!

Days of Wonder takes its name from the childhood fascination many feel when they first play games. In 2004 it became the youngest publisher ever to win the Spiel des Jahres, just 2 years after it was founded. At the beginning of their turn, before taking their regular action, a player may discard Locomotives to buy ONE Technology Card. Remember that any 4 cards may be used as a Locomotive (or any 3 cards if you have the Booster Technology), even in this occasion. On the UK side of the board, technology plays its part. You start out as a small train tycoon in England. At first, you can only build routes that are one- or two-trains in length. But if you spend the wild train cards, you then ‘upgrade’ your tech! Then you can build longer routes. Then you can start extending your network into Wales, Scotland and Ireland. There’s even bonus cards up for grabs, with other means to score points! It's really easy to understand, it's super fast-paced because you can only do one thing on your turn (draw new cards or claim a route), and it still gives the brain a nice workout if you like to play tactically. The Pennsylvania half of this map collection adds a share mechanism to the basic TtR game. Each time that a player completes a route, they claim a share of one of the companies depicted next to that route. At the end of the game, whoever holds more shares of a company than all other players receives points as a reward. First and foremost, this expansion is great because it actually adds a whole new element to the game. Players will now be able to cross water spaces using ferries or sailboats which allows for plenty of options in regards to building routes giving players more places they can start from when trying to build their empire. The board itself is a good size. The map of the USA is a thing of beauty, highlighting main cities from Montreal and Vancouver to Los Angeles and Miami, with everywhere in between all connected by rail. The concept of the gameplay is complicated at first but satisfyingly simple once you grasp the mechanics of the game. As a couple who had been together for almost eight years we loved spending time together, but also started to have our own hobbies and interests to keep us busy. We had collected the usual suspects of gaming. Namely games like Monopoly, Scrabble, Pass the Pigs, etc. We loved playing a good game now and again, but I could see that there was a different level of board games out there to be played. As you build routes, you’ll notice companies on the board. Whenever you connect, you get a share in that particular company. The player with the most shares in a company gets some bonus points.

This game has definitely changed my normal strategy of never drawing Locos from the open cards and hoping to draw them as Mystery Meat. You simply just need to have them at times, and they are such a valuable commodity, that I often find myself drawing them as my only card for the turn… De miért is? Amíg az Újvilágban egyik bevált taktika bizonyos útvonalak befoglalása és ezzel az érzékenyebb lelkű mozdonytulajdonosok „megbántása”, addig az Öreg Kontinens már más füstök fújnak. You may play this card to claim a route that was already claimed by another player. When playing this card, you must still play the correct number of cards to claim the route.
