Temple – Stones are placed from left to right. Once a level is full, a new level is placed again from left to right. Points are scored at the end of the round, with one point for each stone visible from above. The 'B' side burial chamber; The burial chamber is built up the same as the 'A' side, but instead of scoring all stones that are connected at the end of the game it is based on the most to the fewest stone in each row. Each row scores either eight, four, two or zero points. Points are shared between any tied players. Players must have at least one stone in the row to score anything. The ‘B’ side burial chamber; The burial chamber is built up the same as the ‘A’ side, but instead of scoring all stones that are connected at the end of the game it is based on the most to the fewest stone in each row. Each row scores either eight, four, two or zero points. Points are shared between any tied players. Players must have at least one stone in the row to score anything. For every stone that gets sent to the Great Obelisk, it covers a meandering 15-spaces path. On each one is a shape, almost polyomino in nature. You earn the corresponding tile according to the shape. You then try to fit these tiles onto your own base card, building them ‘upwards’. This is pure and simple Tetris: you score two points per horizontal row you fill. To mix things up, player boards are double sided. Once you’ve had enough of the A-side you can flip it over and try winning using new conditions. You still must build the Temple, Tomb, Obelisk and Pyramids but each one scores differently.

Imhotep. The legendary architect of the Egyptian monuments. His awe-inspiring structures and brutal tactics earned him divine status among ancient Egyptians. Can you match his ruthless determination to build the most revered monuments? The ‘B’ side obelisk; When stones are delivered here, the player places them in their corresponding colour space. Each player has two, when they deliver the third stone the three stone obelisk is placed on the free space with the highest value and immediately score that many points. Any stones that do not make it into the obelisk at the end of the game are worth one extra point. These cards add a wonderful sense of satisfaction, even if you lose as you fulfil your own sub-text to the game. The box states 40 minutes and ages 10+, and Imhotep certainly doesn’t overstay its welcome; also, the ease of set-up and the relative speed of the game means that it will hit the table frequently. I didn’t feel that the player conflict was a problem as each turn offers you a variety of ways to score points. In Imhotep: The Duel players are trying to win the game by unloading ships from a shared waterfront and earning points by collecting goods of six different types. The Market– as each stone is removed from the boat, the player whom the stone belongs to can claim any one of the available market cards. Some of these cards provide instant benefits. Others provide situational benefits and can be held to be used at a later time. Still, others will provide the players with additional victory points at the end of the game. Having 2 sides mixes up how you approach each game. Players can even decide to use both A and B sides, if their boards match. This adds a small level of variance every time you play. Final Thoughts

If it is a topic that has not yet been covered, you can most likely find more information here on your topic of choice. From official Imhotep board game useful links to very unofficial ones. There are only 12 Tomb tiles, each sequentially numbered. Tomb tiles are placed into the matching numbered slot on the Tomb board. Players receive an increasing number of points based on adjacent groups of tiles. One point for a “group” of 1 Tomb tile all the way to 25 points for having a group of 5 or more. This player would receive 14 points from the Tomb board board. The Actions

Don’t let that chase you away, though. Overall, it’s a very good game and I have a really good time playing it. I think you will, too.

Imhotep: The Duel Overview

After the success of Imhotep, Imhotep The Duel was released in 2019. This game is made just for two and takes the core themes from its Big Sister and dilutes them. Are you ready to go head-to-head and build the best Egyptian monuments? Battle it out as Nefertiti and Akhenaten and become the Empires master builder. Setup

Ships are selected by placing workers in a 3 x 3 grid, then unloading a ship when its row or column has at least 2 workers. Obelisks: Players earn points for the size of their obelisk, with the tallest getting the most points and other players getting fewer points for smaller obelisks. The points available depend on the number of players in the game. Obelisk: Each Obelisk tile is worth 1 point. The player who builds the tallest Obelisk will gain an additional 6 points. The ‘A’ side to the obelisk; Players build their individual obelisks here and are scored at the end of the game, with the tallest earning the most points as indicated on the board. If there is a tie then the total points are divided among the tied players, for example in a two-player game, if both obelisks are the same height then the players share 10 points (five each). A player must have at least one stone to score anything. In Imhotep, designer Phil Walker-Harding has produced yet another stellar family-weight game! Other designs by Walker-Harding include Bärenpark, Sushi Go Party!, Gizmos and the recent Silver & Gold. Quite the impressive list. Imhotep sits among fine company… The player with the most completed rows also earns an end-game bonus. This is a fun, albeit straightforward mini-game, but it’s the right kind of simple. Imhotep is like juggling five mini games all at once, but this isn’t Trajan levels of thinking. It’s got a 10+ age rating, and this feels apt. D-Sides, Too?
