SHATTERED VOW is my first book by Eva Chase, but it definitely won’t be the last! If you’re a fan of X-Men but also can’t get enough of romance, I highly recommend this book, and also find it perfect for both veterans and newbies to reverse harem thanks to its slow-burn/forced proximity dynamic. Welcome to Shh... [Smut, Heroes & HEAs], a reader group dedicated to contemporary Romance & Erotica. And as more conditions arise, it's clear there's a fine line between commitment and betrayal... and neither of us knows where that line falls.

When she is not spending time with friends and family or writing, she usually loves to call people just to talk. If she cannot find someone to swap stories with on the phone she can be found watching trashy shows on TV or reading romances. When she isn't writing, she's spending the days with Doc G, Liv and Gray Gray, and their wild golden retriever. She and Doc G drink way too much coffee, eat way too much candy, and fight like they've been married for hmm how long has it been now? The only thing that got me was when there is finally some 'action' between the two of them I noticed a repeat in the phrasing about nipples within two-three paragraphs of each other and I mentally fell out of the story for a moment thinking "How f**king tight can one woman's nipples get???" It kinda took away from the story. I also didn't require the epilogue. While it was a bit funny, I would have liked it if it had ended with "even the bullet part" from the end of the last chapter. Also I can’t help but think about how she truly threw herself in front of a train, when she found out what their true motives were in the end. I know that she did it to stop herself from killing them ( which like I mean she wouldn’t be wrong to do that), but I wish she had just gotten away from them. Maybe have gotten captured, and then they could lament that fact that it was their actions that drove her to it. However, no, my girl said go big or go home and ran right into a train. Isekai (manwha/manga reference) this girl stat so she can get in a story with way nicer men. I’m being extra harsh not all of the men were as terrible as Jacob. But I definitely need to see groveling next book, I don’t think I can continue reading if Riva immediately forgives them. Nah I need her to damn near move on from them before she forgive them. That’s what’s driving me to read the next book.Jase makes for the perfect book boyfriend. He's sweet, protective and loyal to his friends. And he has some mad skills; some from the military, some in accounting, some in restoring a special car. That isn't even touching on his skill and care as a lover. Yes, there will be some steamy scenes in this book. He is so unbelievably tender with people. Well, at least those who aren't trying to hurt Molly that is. It didn't take long before I was definitely Team Jase being with Molly. I just wondered how they were going to get there and how much pain it was going to take.

He smells just like he should, like sunshine and warm amber. I want to sink right into him." (Riva talking about Andreas)This book felt like the tip of the iceberg to the series. Like the plot and idea of the book is good, but I know it can be better.

The plot had me confused and sometimes I couldn’t picture exactly what Riva was doing/where she was but the vibes were there enough that I wasn’t put off from it. I did like that they had seemingly good powers but they didn’t know how to take advantage of them completely. For example, Andreas can see memories (which could’ve fixed everything) but he can’t attempt to find a particular one. But the powers were able to solve almost every problem they came across which was anticlimactic at times.

This book starts off promising with the fmc being badass and the rest of the book is her being pathetic. She vows that she is done with him and will never fall for him again. Jax had lost himself to her the day he had saved her. Aubrey Whitfield was to be nothing more than the younger sister of his best friend. There were moments I wanted a bit more tension between them all, but I was still satisfied with how everything played out. Loved this story. Action, mystery, sex, and a nail biter. There are some parts that may bring a tear to your eye. Romantic and so darn good I hated for it to end.

This is the first in a series, with book 3 coming out in February 2023. While it is a romance read, it is not spicy. It is very slow burn and the only sexy scene occurs much later towards the end of the book. I am not usually a bully romance reader. I tend to stay away from them as much as possible, because I am just not a fan. I will say, I did still enjoy this book. I had hoped for something a little more grander than the incident that kind of set everyone straight again. I thought Jacob's treatment of Riva for majority of the book was too much and felt forced. Even with this, I still enjoyed the book. I really liked Riva's character. She was very strong and put up with a lot of shit from these guys without ever faltering. The one sex scene that occurs was okay, I wouldn't say it was the spiciest I have ever read, but was written well. I wish there was a little more information on the "marking" that happened, but maybe it comes in a later book, since at that point in the story, the characters still did not know what they truly were.
