Also, we have an ever expanding YouTube channel. We created this channel to help showcase our products, inform our customers on the wire mesh market, and use our position as a trusted authority in our industry to help all to understand exactly what metal mesh can offer. Customer service: The Mesh Company place a high priority on service and offer excellent support and assistance to our customers. This can help to ensure that you will have a positive experience when working with The Mesh Company. Internally a wider variety of metals and finishes are suitable for making. Brass grilles can be polished, lacquered, patinated or plated, as can bronze, aluminium, steel and stainless steel. These metals can also be made to look similar to each other through these processes. For indoor purposes ventilation grilles can be placed on almost any interior surface provided there is some opportunity behind it to attach the duct that will enable the transfer of air. Ventilation grilles can be placed in walls, floors, ceilings, staircases, skirting boards, cornices, plinths, fireplaces, bay windows, in-built in furniture and many other places within the home. In some places the vent grilles may be used for a slightly different purpose such as in fireplaces where they would be used to allow a greater flow of air directly and specifically to the hearth itself. Vent grilles are also used to transfer air between rooms. Where vent grilles are used in air conditioning they are often referred to as supply and return grilles referring to whether they are covering the section of ducting where air is either drawn in or expelled. James Gilberts grilles are made for all these purposes and indeed most of our grilles are interchangeable to suit a wide variety of situations.

If you cannot see your desired Regency grille above, you can specify your preference using the following notation: Many thanks for your help in this matter – great to work with someone who is truly helpful – it makes a big difference. Experienced staff: Our staff are knowledgeable, experienced, and can provide expert advice and assistance to customers. This can be especially helpful for customers who are unsure about which product to choose or who have specific requirements. We also regular write blogs and help guides to help explain what our materials can be used for. Weaving is the method of wire panel production in which two distinct sets of wires are interlaced at right angles to form a semi rigid panel. The advantages of weaving over welding are that the decorative woven panel is inherently more attractive with a distinctly authentic and historical appearance. Also the woven wire grille is slightly more flexible under stress, meaning that if wire panels are curved or hit, they can deform briefly but then return to their original state, whereas a welded wire panel would just stay bent.Unless otherwise specified, it is assumed that all grilles are to be viewed from the front only and will not, therefore, receive the same standard of finishing on their reverse faces. If your grille will be regularly viewed from the rear as well and you would like us to finish it to a similar standard as the front, please specify this in the notes. Additional charges will apply. This is especially important with antique and bronzed finishes. In a woven wire panel none of the joints are welded but the woven grille is held together by the friction of the perpendicular wires being held together by the similar joints around them. The deeper the crimp the looser the woven grille will be. If they are too shallow it would not be possible to weave the grille so just the right depth must be crimped into the flat or round wire prior to weaving each decorative panel. Domestic uses for metal mesh includes sieves in kitchens, used to sift lumps from a variety of foodstuffs or to allow water to drain cleanly away from others. Sieves are used by gardeners to sift soils. Finer grades are needed for certain plants or for stone removal. Metal mesh is often used in hot countries as an additional covering to windows. It is fitted into a frame and fitted over openings to dwellings so that the main doors and windows can be opened from the inside, allowing air to flow freely through the opening, whilst the metal mesh stays in place preventing the ingress of insects and other small animals. It is ideally suited as an anti-mouse solution. Industrial Uses: The next biggest factor that affects pricing for this grille is adding a plating or treatment finish to the natural brass such as chrome plating or antiquing. This is an additional process which will add expense and also slightly increase the delivery timescale.

Brass mesh is the most popular of decorative metal mesh. We manufacture decorative brass mesh by all four manufacturing methods and have departments producing it all day, every day. We offer brass mesh in hundreds of different styles and combinations from fine brass mesh to coarse, machine and hand woven varieties, perforated, assembled with decorative rosettes or expanded. The attractive gold colour of brass mesh makes it the ideal starting point for many of our other attractive finishes. It polishes well and due to being an alloy of copper, also patinates to a range of other attractive finishes. Brass mesh is the base material for antique brass mesh and bronzed mesh. Both the antiqued and bronzed varieties can come in a standard range of shades from light through medium to dark but these can be adapted to match other finishes so long as we are provided with samples of photographs. Whatever project you have in mind, if it involves a mesh to be used decoratively, then we have a solution waiting for you. The metals that are most suited to use in the manufacture of outdoor vent grilles are stainless steel, zinc, copper and aluminium. Due to their weather resistant nature all of these metals can be found in roofing materials. Higher grades of stainless steel will remain highly resistant to tarnishing for long periods of time, which is why they are used in marine applications. Once polished it will require very little maintenance to keep it that way. It is also extremely hard and can be used structurally. Zinc will start off bright silver and then darken to a dull grey over time. If cost is an issue, werecommend that you start by pricing a 54mm diamond grille in natural brass, then experiment with further choices such as diamond size and plating to see how this adjusts cost. None of these colouring and plating processes detract from the elegant and timeless form of the woven structure of the decorative mesh panels themselves, in fact most of them enhance it.Second time I've used Fine Mesh Metals and both times service and products have been excellent. I have recommended to friends and colleagues and will continue to do so." Regency natural brass grilles are treated with a fine clear lacquer to enhance and maintain their appearance unless requested otherwise. Woven mesh is regarded as the more attractive of the two and, therefore, while it is also used industrially, it is the more common of the two to be used in architectural and interior applications where a more decorative appearance is required. Due to the popularity of its use decoratively, a wide variety of styles of woven mesh have been developed where the wires are intertwined by different, interesting methods and in different patterns to achieve different shaped holes and patterned surfaces. Some examples of these are the twilled Dutch weave and reverse Dutch weave. Yet more effects can be achieved by combining different profiles of the same material, for example using a wider diameter or all the horizontally oriented elements or by using a square wire in one direction and a round wire in another. Combining different metals is another possibility. Decorative wire mesh can even be created using other materials in combination with metal such as plastic and leather. Please visit our online calculator where you can experiment with options and create a beautiful handmade decorative grille to suit your style and budget.

Natural brass grilles are sprayed with a fine clear lacquer to resist tarnishing and maintain appearance (unless requested otherwise). You may also be interested in our blog about hardware cloth . This article explains the term in great detail. Plating and treatments such as chrome platingor antiquing are processes applied to the solid brass grille that increase price and manufacture timescales. The brass wire we use can have either a plain surface or a reeded texture, which means that it has two shallow narrow lines rolled into the length of it. This gives the resultant wire panel a slightly more decorative and detailed finish overall. The sizes of the holes range from 6mm through, 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 19mm and our largest standard size is 25mm. The brass wire can be woven into decorative grilles with square holes so that the holes appear as squares when they are fitted, or they can be trimmed at 45 degrees so they are oriented as diamond shapes. If it is desired, asymmetric diamonds can be achieved by weaving the panels over wide and under high by a specific ratio and then when they are squeezed on fitting they achieve the correct size for the hole into which they are to fit, but, the brass wire diamonds will now be elongated which is regarded as an attractive and unique decorative feature. Before handling or storing the wire mesh, allow it to air dry completely. Drying wire mesh with a hairdryer or other heat source can cause the wires to warp or bend.

Perforated Brass Mesh Sheets & Panels

This product is stiff but flexible enough to form around shapes if required and can be trimmed with sturdy scissors. The process of deciding which woven wire mesh style to choose, when faced with so many options can be daunting. That is why we have put considerable effort into taking high quality pictures and displaying them in an easily controllable interactive interface as close to the actual size as possible. Quite often the choice is simply an aesthetic one. Other factors may include how much of what is behind the woven mesh panel should be seen or not seen and this is often governed by the size of the hole or whether a combination of woven wire meshes are chosen to combine into one panel. A wire mesh with large holes and narrow wires will obviously have a higher percentage open area than a mesh panel with small holes and wide wires. Brass wire mesh should be polished or cleaned periodically to maintain its finish and prevent tarnishing. Our regency grilles are exact replicas of original grilles that were designed and used in the regency period. We use the same materials, patterns, assembly methods and manufacturing techniques. STRUCTURE OF REGENCY BRASS RADIATOR SCREENS For further cleaning of the wire mesh, use mild soap and warm water. Take care not to rub too hard when wiping the wire mesh with a soft cloth or sponge dipped in the solution.

Woven wire panels are initially woven oversize and then trimmed to the correct size. Both the weaving and the trimming are done by hand in exactly the same way that they have been done for hundreds of years. The Mesh Company has an enormous range of woven wire mesh products. We truly are an industry leader among suppliers of weld mesh and woven wire materials. With the capabilities we have in-house, we can provide virtually anything you require. The majority of woven wire meshes are now woven on large industrial scale machines and very few are woven by hand. We have both the technology and skill to offer both types and will make recommendations as to which type is the most appropriate depending on the project in mind. Typically, woven wire mesh required for industrial purposes will be machine made along with the very fine mesh, whilst mesh woven especially for interior decoration would be more likely to benefit from the extra personal attention of hand weaving. Hand woven mesh has the advantage over other types of mesh of giving a more traditional feel to a room decor.
