For tethering a dog in the format (a) Loop the double lead over a post, or (b) make the lead into format “A” and pass the lead around the tethering post and clip the handgrip ring to the lead trigger hook. The use of the headcollar usually has a marked calming effect on any excitable dogs. They are much easier to walk and this in turn gives the handler better control eradicating jumping up, surging forward or pulling on the lead. The safety hook up to the collar should be connected when using this product with difficult dogs. IMPORTANT. The dog should be introduced to the DOGALTER slowly with it fitted loose. Some dogs at first object but after a few hours of training it should be readily accepted. It should be left on the dog in the owner’s presence for short periods until the dog is accustomed to it. If the dog tries to remove it, the dogs’ attention should be diverted. Modest praise or tit bits can be used to take the dogs attention away from the DOGALTER. Medium Length Lead - Clip the trigger hook near to the triple fabric with the D ring furthest away. Medium length is ideal for training or walking and allows for hands-free training of smaller dogs.

I have started 3 weeks ago going for 8 mile walks twice a week for exercise. Every time I take my dog Bruno with me. He is a very powerful dog and although he is most of the time without a lead on some areas the lead has to be used as we walk near the main road.In this format hands-free walking, exercising or training can be done by putting the left hand and head through the loop with the dog walking or being worked on the left. If the dog is on the right then the right hand is put through. This is for standard or large breeds of dogs. If it is required for a smaller dog then adjust the lead as at “D” making the loop big enough to pass over the shoulder.

Some dogs will accept the headcollar immediately. Others may at first object but usually after a few minutes training they readily accept it. If the dog tries to “paw” it off, stop, get the dogs’ attention then move off again. Tethering - Pass the end trigger hook over, through or around the tethering point. Passing the lead around a post twice will stop it slipping down.
