First sound impressions were that they're a little bright, but not problematically so. Their bass presence also wasn't overwhelming, but I loved that I could hear the rumble in bassier songs without needing to crank up the volume. The sound is also very clear across the spectrum, and I can clearly focus on whatever element of the song I desire, or can just chill and experience the music. Between my other IEMs I can feel the compromise between bass strength and clarity in the highs, but I do not feel the same sacrifice on the Zeros. The crossover circuit acts almost as a low-pass filter with the low-frequencies being solely handled by the woofer, and the tweeter having no response in sub-bass frequencies. Now, do these shortcomings make the ZERO: RED bad? Of course, not. I had to whip out my trusty Theiaudio Monarch MK1 to zero in on any objections I’m describing here. Oh, and the Monarch MK1 still needs EQ to be as neutral as the ZERO: RED. Bass The Truthear ZERO: RED are tuned to match Crinacle’s developed IEM preference target. Initially, I was skeptical because the Moondrop Blessing 3 were also very measurement based designed to match Crinacle’s tonal target, and in my opinion, tonality was their main weakness.

Next, if you go from 300 Hz up to 1000 kHz, this is known as the Lower Midrange, and this is a crucial region for Build, Comfort & Features: Both IEMs are identical form build & comfort perspective. The RED comes with additional high impedance converter though. This is a double dynamic driver iem made by truthear and tuned by Crinacle. This is the sequel to the previous zero. The first section of the frequency spectrum is the sub-bass. Everything below 80Hz is sub-bass, so generally, you Two sets of white S/M/L silicon tips for 6 pairs in total. Each set has a different bore size which will give a slightly different treble response. I used the medium size tips with narrow bores for this review. Mid-bass is utterly devoid of body and slam. The bass is thus solely defined by the sub-bass emphasis near 50Hz. As a result of mid-bass hollowness and a near 12dB rise in the upper-mids, midrange is dominated by the upper-registers. Unfortunately, because it retains the same large shell as the Zero, the nozzle diameter is over 6 mm. It’s large. There is a lip at the edge to help hold the tips in place but I actually think it’s the lip that makes me feel the size more than something like the Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite with a similar nozzle size. In that same Q&A stream, Crinacle mentioned that it was needed to accommodate the large 7.8 mm and 10 mm drivers without affecting acoustic response. That said, the angle of insertion is very ergonomic so I have no complaints about comfort other than feeling the nozzle size. You can get quite a nice, deep seal with the RED.

That everyone should go out and buy a RED now. The answer is no, of course not. My philosophy is that if you already own something you enjoy and are satisfied with, there’s no need to go out and buy another just to upgrade to the “latest and greatest”. Things get very different as we move upward the frequencies, with the BL-05S being far more resolving in treble and mids. Imaging and separation are superior on the BLON as well. But I don’t love it. I appreciate it. Though it’s a great listen and there’s little to find fault in its sound, the RED doesn’t enamour me the way Crinacle’s previous collabs like the Moondrop Blessing 2: Dusk and Fearless Dawn did. To use a horrible cliche, the tuning of the RED is like a pair of studio monitors. Not that it sounds like one, but rather that the RED is accurate and timbrally correct in a way that is hard to argue against. But like studio speakers, there’s a reason why the stereo hi-fi industry exists: not everyone wants that. All products sold on Headphone Zone carry a GST compliant invoice and all products sold include an 18% GST. The entire shell is made out of resin with a glittery faceplate. I quite like the hue of blue on the Truthear Zero. When these qualities are combined with its monitor-like tuning, the RED’s overall presentation is unique among the IEM market. The RED’s textured bass and tightly controlled treble response elevates its sound beyond seemingly similar IEMs. While its smaller staging could be improved, I don’t think it detracts too much from the sound and its coherency and articulation more than makes up the difference. I’ve heard a lot of budget IEMs. Most are me-too products in the race to the bottom with the usual trade-offs in tuning against its peers. The RED is not one of them.

The Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED is the latest collab between IEM measurement internet celebrity Crinacle and Truthear. Their previous work was the Truthear ZERO which, like the RED, used a duo of dynamic drivers and was tuned to the Harman IEM target. One of the reasons headphones and earphones in India are more expensive than overseas is because of the Goods & Services Tax in India. Another potential issue for people is the nozzle size. These are massive. My right ear is a good bit smaller than my left, to the point that all IEMs visibly fit differently between my ears. The nozzles on the Zeros almost do not fit my right ear, I can just barely get the foam properly compressed in to get a good fit. If you have really small ears, these might not be for you. listening on monitors or headphones. But if you’re listening on a laptop or a phone, there’s no way you will hearAt the end of the frequency spectrum, we get to the Air region or the Top End. This region consists of everything
