The Dyson V15 wins 2-1 and draws once against the Bosch Unlimited 8. The Dyson V15 passed all of my tests with excellent results, is lightweight, isn’t too noisy, and comes with various attachments. The Bosch Unlimited 8 is also a good choice, but it is a bit heavy, has a small dust cup, and isn’t ideal for deep cleaning carpets. Cleaning Performance The trend in the industry is three power modes. We were surprised when we found out that the Bosch has only two power settings. However, in our suction test, we saw that this doesn’t affect the cleaning performance. However, those huge runtime differences highlight the equally massive difference in suction power between modes, and we think Bosch has got it very wrong here. The Bosch Unlimited has two cleaning modes – standard and “Turbo” – which you can toggle between by pressing a button on top of the vacuum’s pistol-grip handle. While the standard mode will get you plenty of battery life, it isn’t particularly effective, producing only 4.5kPa of suction.

The Dyson V15 still shines brightly on both low and high carpets with the High Torque 2.0 floorhead. The only issue I initially had was finding it a little challenging to push the machine on my high carpets. But then I adjusted a slider on the floorhead, and everything was okay. HairAnother unique feature of the design is the exchangeable battery of the Bosch Unlimited Pro Power. You can remove the battery at the push of a button and insert a new one. Bosch was one of the first manufacturers in the UK to implement this, and many have followed suit.

The filter is durable, and you don't have to wash it, just tap it out. That works well, and we liked it. Cleaning the brush Thankfully, because of the two batteries, this Bosch delivers plenty of serious Turbo-mode cleaning runtime. With the fast charger taking 55 minutes, power is not quite unlimited, but you can get a very long way around the house in 18 minutes. Bosch Unlimited BCS122GB – How noisy is it? While being cordless and having a direct floorhead is undoubtedly the ideal scenario for stair cleaning, we again missed having a small turbo tool for these duties. The main floorhead is a little unwieldy and a small tool would have also allowed us to clean the carpeted step verticals.Things change when Turbo is engaged but the Bosch still isn’t great. It’s more powerful this time than the Beldray but lags behind the Dyson, Xiaomi and Shark vacuums. Close-to-edge cleaning was very impressive, and even close up, the Turbo mode delivered a decent clean in just this single run. It took a couple of passes to get rid of all the heavier carpet powder particles, but the good suction did well in one pass.

Bosch Unlimited 8’s noise level is measured between 67 and 71 dB, which is tolerable, and I could still have a conversation with my wife while vacuuming without raising my voice. This volume is quieter than many of its premium cordless competitors, including the Dyson V15, which produces 71 to 76 dB of noise. Display ScreenWe could remove most dirt in the weaker mode. When it got really dirty, we made use of the turbo mode. The attachments’ contribution to the cleaning process The Bosch brings 3.2 kg (7 lbs) to the scale. That’s a real heavyweight among cordless vacuums, and it shouldn't get much heavier. Emptying the collection bin is a fairly old-school endeavour. It sits at right angles to the extension wand, so this needs removing before the bin can be extracted from the handheld unit. The filter is then lifted out, leaving just the cup full of dust to be tipped into the bin. The Dyson V15 sports an LCD screen that shows maintenance alerts, estimated remaining battery life, the current cleaning mode (eco, auto, or boost), how many dust particles are vacuumed, and their size (10, 60, 180, and 500 microns). When emptying the dirt container, it’s crucial that you can carry the dirt from the device to the dustbin as easily and as cleanly as possible. Every manufacturer has its own system. Some work well, and others don’t.

The main difference between the BBS1U224 and BSS81POW1 of the Bosch Unlimited Series 8 is the delivery scope, apart from the price. We assess the cleaning performance of each vacuum cleaner, compare it to the competition, and then rate it. Unfortunately, we experienced that the emptying function of the Bosch Unlimited from the new Series 8 leaves a lot to be desired. Joe, our wireless vacuum expert on the Smart Home Fox team, has spent over half a decade meticulously testing every model that has landed with us.

The cleaning performance on hard floors was outstanding. It just took a little longer with the lentils and the oat flakes because it pushed a few lentils in front of the brush at first. With these standard tests, we aim to compare different vacuum cleaners and offer you the best possible advice.
