Description

This process can be used for any number of fractions. Just multiply the numerators and denominators of each fraction in the problem by the product of the denominators of all the other fractions (not including its own respective denominator) in the problem. EX: Some German tire companies use this non-standard designation for 622 mm ("700C") tires -- violates Brown's law!

Whilst you need to use a replacement tire that is the exact same size as the existing one, you have a little more wiggle room when it comes to tubes.

Look through the table for your tire diameter and you’ll see the most popular tire widths for each of those diameters (e.g. “16×1.5 tube”). Repeat the steps until all of the digits in the multiplier have been used up, shifting each intermediate product one digit to the left each time.

Don’t worry if you haven’t done this before. It’s a real simple process and should take less than an hour. An alternative method for finding a common denominator is to determine the least common multiple (LCM) for the denominators, then add or subtract the numerators as one would an integer. Using the least common multiple can be more efficient and is more likely to result in a fraction in simplified form. In the example above, the denominators were 4, 6, and 2. The least common multiple is the first shared multiple of these three numbers. Multiples of 2: 2, 4, 6, 8 10, 12 This is perhaps the most complex step. Write down the product from the previous multiplication step, but shift it over beneath the problem so that the ones digit in the immediate product is below the multiplier digit. A millimetre (American spelling: millimeter, symbol mm) is one thousandth of a metre, which is the International System of Units (SI) base unit of length. The millimetre is part of a metric system. A corresponding unit of area is the square millimetre and a corresponding unit of volume is the cubic millimetre.

Traditional Sizing Systems

Converting from decimals to fractions is straightforward. It does, however, require the understanding that each decimal place to the right of the decimal point represents a power of 10; the first decimal place being 10 1, the second 10 2, the third 10 3, and so on. Simply determine what power of 10 the decimal extends to, use that power of 10 as the denominator, enter each number to the right of the decimal point as the numerator, and simplify. For example, looking at the number 0.1234, the number 4 is in the fourth decimal place, which constitutes 10 4, or 10,000. This would make the fraction 1234 These are inexpensive and super-simple to fit and use – you just screw them by hand and away you go. After that you’ll be able to use your pump with either Presta or Schrader tubes, so they’re very handy to have. You can get more details on the one I recommend here. If the bicycle has hub brakes (drum, disk, coaster), different rim sizes are possible as long as the tire is fits the frame. A larger rim goes with a skinnier tire, and vice versa.. Rules for expressions with fractions: Fractions - use a forward slash to divide the numerator by the denominator, i.e., for five-hundredths, enter 5/100. If you use mixed numbers, leave a space between the whole and fraction parts. The space between the fork blades or stays must be wide enough to clear the tire, with a few mm extra on each side in case the wheel goes slightly out of true. Measure at the radius of the widest part of the tire, usually the rim radius plus half the tire width --except that the widest part may be at the tread of an off-road tire. Nominal tire width is marked on the tire; actual width can be measured if the tire is installed on a rim.

There are 420 pupils in the school. Two hundred fifty-two pupils go to the 1st level. Write as a fraction what part of the pupils goes to the 1st grade and what part to the 2nd grade. Shorten both fractions to their basic form. Although you can use practically any tire/rim combination that shares the same bead-seat diameter, as already noted, it is unwise to use widely disparate sizes.Someone ate 1/10 of a cake, leaving only 9/10. If you eat 2/3 of the cake left, how much of a whole cake will you have eaten? If there are seven apples and five oranges in the basket, what fraction of oranges are in the fruit basket?
