Due to its small size, FRFR 108 is better for smaller rooms and studios. It has a good sound quality for the price it is selling for. It is very simple to use and easily installable. Ditto for the output to PA or other gear. I have not touched the EQ switches as I found no need, but will experiment in due course. Headrush FRFR 108 connected to XLR mono output of the helix. No contour enabled and the speaker is raised about 1.5 m from the ground via stand

There is no ultimate champion this time, but you should choose your favorite based on your interest and purposes. It combines (2) XLR/TRS 1/4-inch combo inputs, an XLR output, a ground lift switch, a contour EQ switch, and independent volume controls per channel input. Key Features IF you are going to use as a PA you need some type of mic preamp to increase the mic signal volume. A Sure Beta 58 straight in did not get loud enough. I used a cheap Zoom multi FX pedal to plug the mic into and then to the Headrush. Bonus- I now have vocal FX (reverb, delay, octave doubling). Played with a loud bassist (1x15 and 4x10) and a Bonham style drummer. The drummer and I could hear my dismal singing plenty loud. Bassist was not as close but could hearva little. Great for a personal monitor and of the gig has a sound system you can just give them the line out from the Headrush. Good for acoustic guitar also. Would be great for a coffee house gig- vocals on input 1, acoustic (or keys) on input 2.Other than the weird volume swings between the built in presets, my specific complaint about playing through the FRFR is in regards to notes played on the B and high E string. In the headphones they have beautiful punch, sparkle, responsiveness, sustain, etc. Through the FRFR they sound like garbage. The clarity and sustain just evaporate. Hear your rigs as they were always meant to be heard! The HeadRush FRFR-108 features a specially-voiced 8-inch woofer and high-frequency compression driver that deliver a clear, concise and sonically-true full response across the entire frequency range, without any nuisance artificial colouration. Thanks to a conveniently located Contour EQ switch, the FRFR-108 guarantees to cut through muddy sounding stage mixes for perfect monitoring every time! High Output Power We built the HeadRush FRFR-108 just for you, the discerning guitarist/bassist - if you’re looking to elevate the performance of your HeadRush Pedalboard, Gigboard or any other FX/Amp modeller, your search is over. You’ve found the HeadRush FRFR-108! Features Whatever the situation demands, the HeadRush FRFR-108 includes hassle-free connectivity options for sheer versatility on stage or in rehearsal scenarios alike. With 2 XLR/TRS ¼-inch combo inputs, each with their own independent volume control and clip indicator, amplifying and mixing two separate signal sources couldn’t be any simpler – plus with a thoughtful Ground-Lift switch, eliminate unwanted noise at venues with grounding issues and ensure you sound at your best every time. The FRFR 108 can travel with you because it is lighter and smaller than other models. In contrast, FRFR 112 is frequently chosen for long-term use in big spaces.

Unless you're very well off you can't afford the kind of studio monitors that come CLOSE to being truly Flat Response. In case you haven't gotten the drift yet....here it is ONE MORE TIME: There is no such thing as a FRFR speaker!! There is no standard for it. There is no standard reference for it. It is purely a marketing term and means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in any measurable way. Headrush FrFr 108 is a Specially-voiced 8-inch woofer, while the headrushFrFr 112 is a Specially-voiced 12-inch woofer.

I'm can't hold this one against it, but if you try to use both channels at the same time, it gets pretty muddy. I only use both channels in a pinch. Most headphones have a single driver/speaker where the HR has separate HF and LF driver. Headphones also usually have some engineered fabric between the driver and the users ear, not just for comfort. This can really smooth things out in a good set of headphones. Many players like the FRFR108, but some say they're "boomy". If you go this way, get them off the floor with a pair of short PA speaker stands. It is used for keyboards that call for various complex sounds and often do bass patches or very low-end sounds.
