Badsnatchers are also new and provide a buff to your moonclan wizards, letting you reroll one of your casting dice if they’re within 9” of another moonclan wizard. Rerolls to casting is nice, but the moonclan lore isn’t quite good enough to make forcing it through a requirement, and the other options for subfaction are spicy enough to compete. As expected, Gloomspite Gitz get their own faction specific Endless Spells and they all reference the themes of the Bad Moon, mushrooms and now spiders with the inclusion of the Spiderfang. They are called the Malevolent Moon, Mork’s Mighty Mushroom, Spider Swarm and Scrapskuttle’s Arachnacauldron. The cauldron supports your wizards’ casting while doing damage to nearby enemy units. No more details at this stage, but you can expect the usual mix of damage dealing and support spells.

I suspect we will see a lot of Fungoid Cave-Shamans in Gloomspite Gitz lists given the model’s use as a multi-spell caster and command point factory. There is a kind of war of silence or hunger for stillness between millennial models and gen x models. When you see them together, they are living in very-slightly different aesthetics of time and sensation. I like both the prose and conceptualising in this a lot more than in most of the other AoS stuff I have read. There could be a few reasons for that.

As all 3.0 edition armies, Gloomspite Gitz have their own subfactions called Gittish Hordes that provide an extra layer of customization to the army: If that doesn’t sound like your cup of fungus brew, we have a guide to the other Age of Sigmar armies to help you decide on a more suitable faction. Haven't played AoS, have read the 2nd edition book and a handful of other things so that is my only real point of comparison, as well as stuff I have randomly run into online. Lastly, they dropped a giant roadmap for AoS battletomes into 2023! Games Workshop Grand Narrative Finale Preview

If the brewing roll is 6, double your concoction score instead of adding 6. If the brewing roll is 1, double your volatility score instead of increasing it by 1. This book offers all the knowledge and rules you need to command your own grot horde in games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Discover the petty and vindictive history of the grots, learn the legends of the Bad Moon, and find out how the Era of the Beast has energised them anew. [1] Sources Gloomspite’s command traits have two selections, one available to all grots and one for the Dankhold Troggboss. They are all really powerful options, from the ability ( The Clammy Hand) to use twice per turn the Moonclan Lair ability of the Loonshrine (that allows to resurrect half of a slain unit) to the ability ( Fight Another Day) of Loonbosses to retreat after fighting or wizards to cast an extra spell when under the Bad Moon influence ( Loon-touched). And Troggbosses are not inferior, as they can become Monsters with 2 more wounds ( Alpha Trogg) or add to the list a Gloomspite endless spell without paying its cost value and attempt to summon it as if they were wizards ( Loonskin). There’s three interesting, if not overwhelmingly strong, options for the Dankhold Troggboss. Firstly, Alpha Trogg provides two extra wounds and the Monster keyword, a small mercy for everyone who thought they should be monsters anyway. Trogg Smash is a once per battle 3” mortal wound bomb that triggers after the Troggboss fights. Most intriguing is Loonskin which lets you take one of the non-arachnacauldron Gitz endless spells for 0 points and lets your general attempt to cast it (but crucially, does not make them a wizard so any of those predatory spells will be wild). You really don't need a 'house style' for this as the minis, rules, layouts, margins and everything else provides it. Maybe change the management structure around the from "Ok, who's getting the Gargant picture" to "Ok, who has any freaky image ideas for stuff from the Gloomspite battletome." Four, including the now ubiquitous ‘have ever battle tactic you complete be from your faction list’. Protect da Shrine! Could potentially see some use, requiring you to have no enemy models within 12” of the Loonshrine at the end of the game, and for it to have not been smashed to rubble. Superior Spell-flinger has a Tzeentchy flair and asks you to have two of the Gitz endless spells on the battlefield when the game ends. You don’t have as much control of that as you might like, but the Scuttletide at least can be quite difficult to dispel. Skagrott is a double caster with knowledge of the entire lore and a +1 bonus to casting and dispelling. The Fungoid Cave-Shaman and the Madcap Shaman are single casters who can cast a second spell once per game, while Zarbag is a single caster with a 50% chance to cast a second spell each turn. The Gloomspite Gitz build effigies to the Bad Moon wherever they make war, and you can represent this on the battlefield using the Bad Moon Loonshrine faction terrain piece. Their Finest Hour: can be used only once by each hero to improve save and wound rolls by 1 for that turn. The Gloomspite Gitz will have three sets of allegiance abilities similar to the Beasts of Chaos battletome. This makes sense as it would allow you to play a Moonclan, Spiderfang or Troggoth army. Using cutting-edge miniatures design technology, we’ve been able to realise and expand upon three decades of grot designs, building on their history to create a darkly macabre, fantastical and often hilarious range of models that are unlike anything else you’ll see on the tabletop. When Kragnos awoke from his prison as a consequence of Alarielle’s ritual of life, the grots followed him and Gordrakk in the Big Waaagh! against Excelsis. It was Skagrott with the help of the Bad Moon that stopped the fight between Kragnos and the Ironjawz leader allowing the green crusade to continue. Despite their best effort, Excelsis was saved at the last minute, but this did not stop Grots from continuing their quest of stealing pieces of the Spear of Mallus from the city protected by Sigmar. There’s 2 major reasons people generally like the gitz: They like the underdogs, or they like the silliness (or both!). Gitz have been seen as the underdog army basically from Age of Sigmar’s inception. Their rules have always been a bit haphazard, weaker than equivalent units and subject to a lot of randomness. This does have a certain appeal to a kind of person who didn’t really care about winning and just wanted to cause some chaos on the table.

They also promised a ton of buffs in this battletome, so things are looking up for the goblins! Wolf Riders Are Now Snarlfang Riders! An 11 pm preview on a Friday night here in the states (and well into the AM in the EU), what a time to be alive! New Beasts of Chaos & Gloomspite Gitz Battletome Books Revealed! Now, we don’t have any more details to go on at this stage, but the Malign Portents Harbinger and the Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault warband both represent the new design aesthetic for Moonclan. Fungoid Cave-Shaman Snazzgar Stinkmullett Finally there’s Chasing the Moon which requires your general to survive the battle, potentially much easier than it used to be if they’re a Galetian Champion, and to have been affected by the Light of the Bad Moon in 3 battle rounds. Battle Tactics I’ll touch on these in more detail in our parts of the preview series. Available playstyles – horde / alpha bunker / combat speed heavy squigs / mortal wound swarm / casting heavy warscrolls and pitched battle profiles for the Beasts of Chaos, from humble Ungor Raiders to the mighty Beastlord
