Description

The Aeldari live on the brink of extinction. As such, their Farseers have become adept at reading future events, seeing the many strands of fate ahead of their people and the consequences of following each one. Taken at the right time, a simple action can avoid calamitous outcomes, aiding the Aeldari in their continued struggle for survival. If your Army Faction is AELDARI, at the start of the battle, make a Strands of Fate roll by rolling twelve D6. A Ghost Warrior is a wraithbone robotic construct utilised exclusively by the Craftworld Aeldari in times of urgent need. For the Asuryani, death does not guarantee respite from war, for the species' need is greater than that of its constituent souls.

Before making a roll of any of the types shown above for a unit with the Strands of Fate ability, if any of your retained dice have a result corresponding with that type of roll (as shown above) and have not been used to manipulate a roll this battle round, you can manipulate that roll. If you do so: These robots were controlled by the guiding intelligence of the soul housed within their Spirit Stones, while the robots themselves were constructed from a substance known as Stelhene, a plastic compound that made them invisible to most forms of active and passive sensors. This Stelhene composition combined with a form of internal energy shielding to allow a Ghost Warrior to remain invisible to all but the naked eye. Also, I appreciate that the dual-sword versions don’t have invulnerable, but between Fortune and Protect I think you can still make them at least as durable in an Eldar list. That said, those can only affect 1 unit each, so if you’re running multiple units I suppose that’s a significant advantage for Ynnari. Looming Ghost Warriors many times larger than even the mighty Wraithlords, the war machines known as Wraithknights are still dextrous enough to run through the ruin of a shattered city, leaping from pillar to spar as their arcane weapons bring oblivion to the enemies of the Asuryani. These constructs were referred to as their own class of robots, despite the disembodied sentience that guided them. They have made no further appearance as originally conceived in the later editions of Warhammer 40,000 canon and seem to have been replaced by Eldar Wraithlord and Wraithguard constructs, which operate in a very similar manner and also are controlled by the Spirit Stones of long-dead Eldar warriors. What do you think about this list? I would preferred to not include so many dire avengers but I have no idea how to make this work without them.

These I’ll shade with a bit of Drakenhof Nightshade, then blend them up to Hoeth Blue. They get a final edge highlight with Hoeth as well. Though any Power Weapon process you like will work here. This multi-part plastic kit contains 135 components and an Aeldari Transfer Sheet with which to make five Aeldari Wraithguard or Wraithblades. Yet beyond that taking them in Venoms is huge. The anti-infantry is essential for horde clearance. The -1 to hit is likewise huge and using the Venoms to go into combat to tie units up on their own, or to help trap with Wyches. Conclusion For the gems, it’s the typical GW process. Gradient of crescents from dark to light and a dot of white in the dark area. Then I cheated and gloss coated them. The Sword To get specifically into Wraithblades and trade off with CWE the thing I like about them is you dont need 3-4 different expensive characters having to get psychic powers to get them to do their job. Also unlike the CWE you really dont want to take 10 blades with a 3-4 characters buffing them. You really only want 1 unit with the Visarch standing near them and a strat on standby to get re-roll wounds and a single psyker to give them (and anything within 6″ which is huge) a 5++ if you went with dual swords.

Attributes

About the Vexator Mask you gotta remember thats a localized thing that you are loading into a raider/venom which is a risky proposition (especially against Imperial soup and a vindicare). Its a great tool dont get me wrong, but decentralizing the ability and giving it to every unit in your army is absolutely fantastic. The same goes to the re-roll wounds. Yes Doom is awesome (and runes of witnessing is ok) but being able to spread that re-roll wounds from up to 3 sources is fantastic, especially since the go-to way of activating it is a strat requiring no roll offs (barring Vect or genestealer vect which is mitigated by the fact that you have psychic version for redundancy or a troupe master with harlies). The axe and shield seems such a no brainer, am I missing something??? Not only is the 4++ a massive thing in these latest editions of leafblower 40k, it's a cheaper build!?!?!? I keep expecting that too change. (Maybe it has and I missed it? This union is not something that the Asuryani embrace. In fact, most believe it is an abhorrent act of necromancy and something to be used only when no other means of salvation presents itself. Meanwhile, the Wraithknight grapples with tanks or monsters, or blasts apart a fortress wall so that the smaller wraith-constructs can cause havoc inside. The Wraithguard of the Craftworld Aeldari are not living warriors; they are artificial robotic constructs called Ghost Warriors created from the complex psycho-plastic material crafted by the Asuryani of the craftworlds known as wraithbone. Each Wraithguard has a Spirit Stone containing the soul of an elite Aeldari warrior that was drawn out of the Infinity Circuit of a craftworld.

Though much of Aeldari history is so old as to have become myth, there are more recent events in which the various craftworlds have been known to deploy their dreaded Ghost Warriors: At 265 points INCLUDING their standard weapons (yes, really), Land Raiders of every variant and faction are in a much more competitive place within their respective Vehicle pools moving forward. What’s more, a Spearhead Detachment of these armoured behemoths isn’t out of the question anymore. Storm Speeders This incredibly resilient material enables the Ghost Warriors to stride across the most violent of battlefields and weather bolter blasts from Traitor Marines or sizzling bio-plasma from dreaded Tyranid hive fleet creatures. I envision my spirit host as having two halves in balance, composed of close combat Wraithblades and ranged Wraithguard, each led by a Spiritseer and supported by a Wraithlord. The Spiritseers are themselves proteges of the famed Iyanna Arienal, seen in Gav Thorpe’s Rise of the Ynnari: Ghost Warrior.

Airbrushing Yellow and More Methods

Many of the Asuryani wear highly polished Waystones upon their chests. At the precise moment an Asuryani dies, the wearer's soul becomes captured within this stone -- which is then known as a Spirit Stone. Asuryani wear the Spirit Stones because they believe that if their souls make it into the Infinity Circuit then they will be safe in death from the hunger of Slaanesh. It is therefore considered a great sin to draw these spirits from out of their ever-lasting sanctuary into the real world once again, where there remains a risk of their Spirit Stones being shattered in war and their souls forever lost to She Who Thirsts.

It is well that each Wraithknight is capable of such feats of heroism, for it is they who are at the forefront of the quest for new Spirit Stones. By passing through forbidden portals and traversing the shattered multidimensional spars of the Webway, Wraithknights can emerge onto the surface of the Crone Worlds, where the nature of realspace shears with that of the Warp. When used against infantrymen, the result is invariably fatal. Due to their wraithbone construction, Wraithguards can suffer damage that would cripple, or even kill, a living Aeldari warrior and still continue to fight, making them useful in situations that would be suicide for living soldiers. The bone is the next most important cover, particularly since it covers the face. This was pretty much just blending from VMC Cork Brown to VMC Ivory for some nice shadowing on the lower parts of the facemask and near white as you get to the forehead and brow. I used the same colors for the runework on the front. Leather When I talked about sacrificing army-wide abilities, I meant stuff like Flayed Skull and Alaitoc. To me at least this is important because these abilities generally affect *all* your units – not just the melee ones. In terms of psychic powers Word of the Phoenix to heal or ressurect was massive. It kept this unit grinding away all game in almost every game I played during playtesting. Unbind Souls for re-roll 1’s in combat was great too, but I found myself using the stratagem more than the spell. Shield of Ynnead is the other huge winner for the dual sword variety. Access to a 5++ for these guys is a bit of game changer for the dual swords guys and with Yvraine casting it on a 6 its fairly reliable.

Playstyle

In my experience Strength from Death is excellent. Eldar have great melee options and fights first and +1 WS is a fantastic buff to them. IMO Ynnari are a definitive counter to Orks and Genestealer Cult on Strength from Death alone. Fights first is a major, major ability and getting that army wide so long as something has died (friend or foe) is excellent. What’s more, the overall army bonus just feels niche beyond all reason. Eldar and DE both tend far more towards shooty units (and DE isn’t even permitted to bring its most effective melee units in a Ynnari detachment), and the latter’s PfP makes the bonus to hit from Soulburst entirely redundant.
