The only thing we tend to run is the camping heater ( I did a totally cut down list of the all those out there and picked my 4 favs here), USB chargers for power packs and a camping coolbox. The misconception of MCBs or fuses in a house is that they are there to protect you against electric shock whereas they are actually there to protect the cabling behind the walls of our properties from failing through over current (fire etc). Although MCBs (and fuses) provide a degree of electrical protection, there are still hazardous circumstances against which MCBs cannot protect. I enjoyed the little overhead light for the tent that I ran off it, and I liked being able to charge my phone and laptop up easily.

I did try to get the point across that the breaker must be lower rated than the cable which is what this thread was all about as in cable gauge. Safer than just a bog-standard extension lead with a 16A plug on the end and it even has a couple of USB sockets built in for phone charging. Ours was on 'off' and we have never had the charger switch off when the temp down there got hot because of the fridge working hard. Some smaller / municipal sites may still use an older system, in which case you will also need an adapter, such as this. We don't as a general policy investigate the solvency of companies mentioned (how likely they are to go bust), but there is a risk any company can struggle and it's rarely made public until it's too late (see the Section 75 guide for protection tips).Think about where you might place it in the tent, raised off the floor is best, our second one had clips which means it can attach to a steel pole, or table.

We tend to get electric hookup if it's available, but mainly just to charge our phones and put the fan/heater on.Practical Motorhome is part of Future plc, an international media group and leading digital publisher. For instance, a faulty appliance or chafed wires in your motorhome’s loom may allow some electricity to leak to earth. These sockets are the kind with a hinged cover over the plug(s), and a tight seal around the live parts when snapped shut. These cables with extra USB ports are useful as they free up the 3 pin plugs for your main appliances.

SOME French sites may still use the local 3-pin Schuko plugs --- in which case an adapter is required https://www. Most electric hook up points are shared between two pitches too, so if you go over your allowance then it will kill your neighbours supply as well.We used ours for the fridge and chargers, hair drier, straighteners, Electric pump for the air bed, etc. I wrote an article last week about the best rechargeable camping lights too, we use the Luminoodles in the tent to light it up.
