This happened on my wife and I’s last game, and it was nearly impossible to get any Green Production cards out.

The Spirecrest board has 3 areas, foothills, peaks, and ridge, with a trail leading through them all. If you were not a fan of the core solo experience to begin with, then I suspect that the Spirecrest expansion will probably not make you have a change of heart.

Most of the big critters give your worker a special ability: gain an additional resource when you place the big critter, reduce the cost of special events, etc.

This is the third review in a series where Board Game Breakdown takes a look at all things Everdell. A contributing factor to my positive feelings towards this most recent expansion to Everdell lies in the fact that James A.This notion of weighing the pros and cons is also applicable to the act of deciding on which Discovery card to acquire. You will then shuffle the 24 Map Tiles and place one more than the player count face up on the foothills trail and then repeat (but this time face down) on the other two trail sections. The leftmost card may be free of charge on your behalf, but it is also the case that the scruffy old rat will receive three point tokens whereas the rightmost Discovery card grants your rodent opponent a mere one point to be tallied during the end-of-game scoring. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. Similar to its predecessor, the Spirecrest expansion adds a whole new game board which expands the scope of Everdell both in a literal and figurative sense.

While I think Spirecrest is the most complex of the expansions, I don’t think it is that much more burdensome than Pearlbrook, and I wouldn’t say the additional complexity is substantial. Collect enough pearls and you can construct fabulous wonders and adornments, to make your city the pride of Everdell!Am I conserving too many resources and concentrating too much on the Expedition when I could just be pouring them into playing more cards? Players flip up three cards from the deck corresponding to the area they are in, and then either take the first one for free, or pay resources/cards to take one of the other two. For me though, I enjoy the “game within the game” of constructing the most efficient Expedition and/or leaving my opponent with Map Tiles that I know will be hard on them to accomplish and watching them get frustrated. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised, though the absurd play did reinforce several of my opinions regarding the expansions.

I suppose they could have been included anywhere, but they were in this box, which only served to secure the ranking. It takes courage to venture forth into the unknown and you are most definitely a brave rabbit, ready to carve a name for yourself by mounting an expedition through the mountainous regions of Spirecrest!I am so very grateful for two additional perks that accompany the expansion, and they collectively form my second reason for placing Mistwood higher on the list.
