Description

Supplied with BASE RAILS as standard to tie the bottom pair of frames together for supreme stability. As steel scaffold towers come in different sizes and shapes, there will always be the correct steel scaffold tower for any job and they can support up quite large loads. A revised European standard for these towers was published in November 2020, known as EN 1004-1:2020 (published by BSI in the UK as BS EN 1004-1:2020). It replaced EN 1004:2004, the previous version, which was then withdrawn in November 2021. The -1 in the number means part 1. What we particularly liked about this tower was that the accessory list includes stabiliser legs, internal ladders, trapdoor platforms and a tower standoff. In general, aluminium and steel have historically been the materials of choice for scaffold towers, fibre glass has also become an option for Zone 1 requirements, but an aluminium scaffold tower has generally been accepted to be the lightest, most practical and durable form of scaffolding tower in recent years. Towers made from either of these metals are sound and reliable. For work around electrical sources, however, glass fibre towers should be used, since they will not conduct an electric current the way steel and aluminium do. If cost is a consideration, then steel is the better choice, since it's less expensive than aluminium. When buying scaffold towers, though, it's important to consider the application carefully. Regardless of what material you choose, be sure that it conforms with the BS EN1004 standard. If the tower comes from another country, be sure it carries a comparable rating. If the tower comes from Germany, for example, it should have a TUV mark.

If you have a DIY or construction job coming up that will require you to work at height for longer than 30 minutes, we think you’ll find our range of scaffold towers very useful. Why buy scaffold towers from us? Where possible, we recommend the use of stabilisers on all towers from these platform heights - 6'0" (4' x 2'6" & 6' x 2'6") and 8'9" (4' x 4' & 6' x 4'). The four base plates are adjustable so can be easily adjusted on uneven ground. The castors or wheels are an optional extra but make for easy movement on flat surfaces. Scaffold Towers have large work platforms, which can comfortably fit a worker and any necessary tools and materials, while at the same time being both rigid and stable.

The Scaffold Tower: An Ideal Solution for Working at Height

Extra care must be taken when exiting the ladder and climbing onto the steel tower. There are also many reasons when a steel tower is not ideal and a Fibreglass or GRP tower is a better option, especially when working with electrical tasks. PRIME quality steel (not scrap steel as in most low-cost towers) for highest quality DIY scaffold towers. For large scale home DIY jobs like decorating, pruning your trees and washing your windows, a ladder may not always be the best choice. A DIY scaffold tower will offer you more freedom of movement to carry out a task which is especially important if you need to be at height for a longer period of time. Cantilever Adjustable Legs (sold in a pair) are also available to help assemble your tower on a Sloping or flat roof to access the roofline above extensions and porches.

Will you need your tower mobile or on sloping or uneven ground? - Choose from Standard Castors, Adjustable Castors or Adjustable Bases as an alternative to Standard Base Plates which are supplied free of charge with all Basic Kits. Although a scaffold tower may take a little longer to assemble (please see our help section), it can greatly reduce your chance of falling from height compared to a ladder and would be more suitable when a ladder cannot safely be used. We at Ladders UK Direct have a wealth of experience when it comes to providing our customers with reliable, high-quality access towers. Our scaffolding towers are lightweight, easy to assemble, and built to last! Updating and revising those standards is an important process that continually improves tower safety.
