Plus, there's a steamy new love interest who she meets through her online persona--except she has no idea if she can truly trust his motives.

I loved the little Easter eggs, trying to decipher what was real and what wasn't, and the similarities we get in this book, like Duke Dudley's story, which is based on Army Hammer's scandal, which Deuxmoi helped break the news on. I don't regret the time that I spent with the book, but it did only take a little over an hour to read so it wasn't a massive commitment on my time.I would have liked to have seen more time with Cricket’s friends and her self esteem building instead. But of course running a viral Instagram account is difficult while you work full time and even harder when your boss is irrational. As initially reported in May 2022, the project is currently set up at Max with a script-to-series commitment. While I would classify the book as fluff (I don't think the author would be offended, since it seems that was the intention), however, I didn't find it particularly entertaining. But as the account grows and becomes more and more famous, she has to wonder: is it — the fame, the insider access, the escape from real life — really worth losing everything she has?

Cricket considers taking an offer from a media company that would allow her to get paid to run the account and quit her day job. I will stand by the fact that a good plot line is a thousand times more satisfying than a badly written sex scene until I DIE. But when the account grows overnight and, even wilder, when she starts getting gossip from fans and insiders—juicy gossip—she has to face facts: her Instagram is now famous.DeuxMoi now has over two million followers on Instagram alone and regularly shares celebrity sightings and stories. I read straight through overnight and was so caught up in the story, I was surprised by a major plot point (that any DM fan should have seen miles away. Publishers Weekly was more critical, describing the book as "evocative if underwhelming" and criticizing the exposition throughout. But when the account grows overnight and, even wilder, when she starts getting gossip from fans - juicy gossip - she has to face facts: her Instagram is now famous.
