Description

It uses the hideous TN LCD panel technology which blighted the fledgling, consumer LCD monitor industry some 20-years ago. IPS panels are able to produce better colors and slightly deeper blacks, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are competent enough to perform at an esports level. The way CRTs produced an image was by using an electron beam tracking, that would cause the pixels to turn on and off almost immediately, leaving no afterimage behind as it rendered the next image.

That’s okay, because ZOWIE isn’t going for ‘pretty,’ they’re going for performance, and they fully hit all of their marks with this monitor. We found settings between 11-18 represented a sweet spot where response time and inverse ghosting coexisted well, before causing issues. While it’s not great for multimedia immersion, the Windows Desktop remains sharp and clear for work and colors retain acceptable vibrancy.

While it doesn’t offer much outside of its intended use compared with other monitors, the gaming performance is certainly excellent.

There are also, removable ‘Shielding Hood’ blinkers at the sides to prevent background distractions. A TN panel, no matter how good it is, is never going to live up to a good IPS panel when it comes to the overall image quality, and that’s something that you should take into account when considering this monitor. There’s plenty of 240Hz TN Film gaming screens around, but the first 360Hz refresh rate panels were all IPS – we tested the first of these which was the Asus ROG Swift PG259QN back in Sept 2020. The clarity helps gamers see the position of the enemy during fast movements or fast moving targets more easily and notice the bullet trajectory more clearly which can help with recoil control and aim.In contrast, on the BenQ the outline of the UFO was much sharper and clearer and you don’t get this pale smearing.

You can then choose between two modes for “high” and “premium” in the menu, as well as “off” of course. You can see the recommended OSD settings above and our calibrated ICC profilefor this display is available now for our Patreon supportersand will be added to our main database in the coming months. on the Asus), there are a few differences across the data set which translate to differences in motion clarity in practice. For example, in Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO), the DyAc+ Technology on the XL2566K makes in-game actions like spraying much more manageable and less blurry. Unlike nearly every screen released to market nowadays, there are no USB ports provided on this screen which may be missed by some people.
