Description

As you may know, Poly, formerly known as Plantronics, merged with Polycom. Polycom was more recognized as being a premier provider of audio and video conferencing products.

During this use, the battery in the headset is being charged at the same time. That’s a feature you don’t see on a lot of headsets, no matter what the price point is.

You can get an optional accessory called the office, that allows you to use your Voyager 4320 with a desk phone. The UC variant, which is the model I test and comes with the USB dongle 2. You can add a charging base, for easier recharging Voyager Office base*: Desk phone, Softphone selector button. Microsoft Teams button (Microsoft Teams version only) Callers hear only you with the flexible noise canceling boom with dual microphone Acoustic Fence technology.

The positioning of the Voyager 4320 UC between these products hints that Poly is looking to draw customers from both ends of this spectrum. Simultaneously connects to PC/Mac and mobile. Also connects to desk phone (via Voyager Office base accessory – sold separately)*You can also connect the Poly Voyager 4320 to a mobile device via Bluetooth. The 4320 uses the latest version of Bluetooth which is version 5.2. While connected to a mobile device, you can simultaneously be connected to a computer. On the same side are three widely spaced buttons for increasing and decreasing volume and ending or starting a call on the end of the can. Lights around those show the call status of the headset wearer to those nearby, a feature we’d associate more with call centre applications.

Handling these for the first time, they feel lightweight (162g) but substantial. Construction appears to be primarily glass-reinforced plastic with very high-quality injection moulding used throughout. The microphone is part of a noise-cancelling boom with dual microphone acoustic fence technology. That should reduce any environmental sounds propagating to be heard by the other end of a call or conference. However, there is no active noise cancellation in the headphones, so the operator will still hear those sounds. I created a Youtube video where I do an overview, sound, and range test. Countless people prefer to watch video for their content consumption rather than having to read it. If you’re one of those people, I’ve got just the video for you. Voyager Focus 2 UC connects to PC/Mac via new BT700 USB-A or USB-C adapter and a mobile phone via Bluetooth 5.1; Voyager Focus 2 with Voyager Office base (accessory, sold separately) connects to a desk phone (via telephone interface cable), computer (via USB-A cable) and mobile (via Bluetooth). Our Voyager 4320 UC came in one, along with a tiny USB-A BT700 Bluetooth adapter and a USB-A to USB-C cable. The cable is required to charge the headphones, but it can also double to provide a wired link to a computer should you not wish to use Bluetooth. The audio will automatically switch between the two. In my tests, there was a short, 2-3 second delay between the time I paused the audio on my mobile phone and when the audio on my computer was directed to the headset. Though noticeable, this delay wasn’t a big deal. How about that Microphone?
