By August 2020, the manga had over 5.8 million copies in circulation. In 2017, Blue Giant won the 62nd Shogakukan Manga Award in the General category and the 20th Japan Media Arts Festival Award. This manga's art isn't anything groundbreaking. The character designs are well-drawn and the environment gives off a life like ambiance. If I had to compare it to anything I guess I would recite the works of Asano Inio (Oyasumi Pun pun guy). Despite that, this manga has the most memorable panels and is well-drawn in the most important moments. Ressler, Karen (January 23, 2017). "Mob Psycho 100, More Win 62nd Shogakukan Manga Awards". Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the first manga in English last February and publishes it in 2-in-1 omnibus volumes. One day, he listened to a jazz song and became interested in it. He starts working part-time to buy a saxophone. His brother, Masayuki, who knew about it, bought a saxophone with a loan and gave it to him as a gift. Dai, who practiced the saxophone on the river bank after school every day, was invited to perform live by the owner of a musical instrument shop he met while buying reeds. He was yelled at by a regular customer that it was just loud and noisy, and he got off the stage in a daze and went home. After that, as he continues his daily practice, the master of the jazz bar where Dai has appeared introduces Yui, a music class instructor. Although he gave a lot of failing marks to Dai's performance, he was invited to come to his house next time, and Dai willingly accepted. By attending classes, Dai's performance increased in power, and his delicate side also improved. Dai decides to move to Tokyo after graduating from high school to become a saxophone player, and invites the patrons of the jazz bar who yelled at him on the first stage before coming to Tokyo to listen to his current performance. The regular customer left the store after listening to the performance until the end while frowning.

Now, in 2023, Blue Giant has been adapted into a full-length animated feature that has captivated fans and has been described as “the sound coming from the manga”– which in turn has influenced the vibrant Japanese jazz scene and exposed a new, younger audience in Japan to jazz. After an extraordinary beginning of manga where Shinichi Ishizuka developed ideas around a protagonist more than endearing and full of hope, this one decided to raise his level of mangaka already very important and to surpass himself to make I think his best God, I love these characters. All of them seem like real people with normal lives and normal experiences. The only flaw I had was the minor inconsistencies of certain characters that kindComic Natalie (in Japanese). July 7, 2020. Although it was quite interesting to learn about the roots of what seemed intriguing to me for many years. One element some fans are worried about is the anime film's use of CGI to portray its jazz concert sequences. While this is certainly jarring given that the rest of Blue Giant is in more traditional animation, CGI in anime as a whole has definitely improved in the past several years. For instance, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was a huge hit despite being entirely done in a somewhat experimental new CGI animation style. In the case of Blue Giant, the focus will generally be more focused on the plot and drama, which again have the most potential to see the film succeed. There's also been a huge increase in music-based anime and their popularity, so this is one area where Blue Giant is bound to succeed.

Shun is one of the most sought-after drummers, active not only in jazz but also in various other genres, and Hiromi chose him to express Shunji’s enthusiasm for the band, a character who is intensely motivated by Dai’s passion for the instrument despite his characters inexperience.

Synopsis

first point that will not convince those who are resistant to a museum genre during his lifetime, even if Blue Giant still vaguely seeks to connect with certain nude jazz trends that are a little more contemporary. Whatever, the enthusiasm of the apprentice saxophonist we follow ends up sweeping away the hesitations. Blue Giant is rough and uneven, its parts are dissonant, its animation rough, its narrative inconsistent. It rushes, gets ahead of itself, stops for a moment, and those dissonant parts suddenly collide in an explosion of emotion. BLUE GIANT SUPREME」ヨーロッパ編が完結、カルテットで最後のライブ. Comic Natalie (in Japanese).
