It's not just the well known Silhouette and Cricut machines that can do masks, virtually any cutter with a very fine and sharp blade can do these. I own a Silver Bullet cutter and have used it for such work. Clean Up Properly: After using frisket, clean your tools and work area thoroughly. Dispose of any waste materials according to local regulations. Palette: Have a palette handy to mix and dilute the watercolor paint. Opt for a palette with wells or compartments to separate and organize the colors. What material are you using? I was going to put Tamiya masking tape on top of some PVC clear binding cover (not sure of real name), then run it through machine.

Rushing Frisket Removal: Be patient when removing frisket. Rushing the removal process can lead to tearing of the paper or smudging of the paint. Take your time and gently lift the frisket from the paper. Color Harmony: Evaluate the color choices and their interaction within the painting. Determine if the colors work harmoniously and if they convey the desired mood and atmosphere. Adjustments can be made by adding glazes, softening edges, or intensifying certain areas to enhance the overall color harmony. Also an Inkscape extension is available at https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-silhouette that enables masks to be directly sent from Inkscape to a Silhouette Portrait. Instructions for installing the extension on Linux, MacOS, and Windows are provided. I use and would recommend Inkscape for drawing up masks and stencils. The software is free and fairly easy to learn and use. Paint with Care: When painting around masked areas, use a light touch and be mindful of the edges. Apply the watercolor paint gently, avoiding heavy brushstrokes that might push the paint under the frisket. This careful approach helps maintain clean and precise edges.
