I think this is a great choice for anyone who has a kid that likes all things scary, but you still want to emphasize being kind to others. I really enjoy getting the children in the audience to help me act out the stories and sing the songs. I’d already created a number of villains – among them the Highway Rat and Wizard Lizard, but never more than one in each book. You have to understand that when I see a new Julia Donaldson picture book, I'm am fully prepared to be blown away by her story. My novel The Giants and the Joneses is going to be made into a film by the same team who made the Harry Potter movies, and I have written three books of stories about the anarchic Princess Mirror-Belle who appears from the mirror and disrupts the life of an otherwise ordinary eight-year-old.

Famous for her use of rhyming verse, Julia Donaldson CBE is one of the most popular children's authors of our time and it's easy to see why. I grew up in a tall Victorian London house with my parents, grandmother, aunt, uncle, younger sister Mary and cat Geoffrey (who was really a prince in disguise. After graduating with a first class degree, Axel moved to London where he began illustrating for a variety of English and German advertising companies, magazines and newspapers. But long before he began his professional life, he had won his first drawing prize for an international chocolate company – his prize was a cuddly lilac cow.A brilliant paperback edition for new and old fans alike Perfect read-aloud rhyming text and stunning pictures on every page with lots of details to spot Julia and Axel are the team that have created picture book favourites such as The Gruffalo, Stick Man, Zog and The Smeds and The Smoos – all of which have been made into animated films premiering on BBC1 Christmas Day The animated film of Tabby McTat stars voice artists including Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who) as the narrator, Rob Brydon (Gavin and Stacey) as Fred, Sope Dirisu (Gangs of London) as Tabby McTat, alongside Cariad Lloyd, Joanna Scanlan and Susan Wokoma. When a little girl moves into a nearby cottage, the Baddies can't wait to scare her out of her wits. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot!

Once again, Julia Donaldson’s rhyme scan is perfect, while the humorous interaction between these three horrors is a joy. A mouse, overhearing the debate, gives the monsters a specific challenge to determine which of them is actually the worst of them all. But when The Baddies set their sights on a new little girl to scare, she soon teaches them that you don’t have to be big to be brave, and that baddies don’t always win. Parents need to know that The Baddies, by Julia Donaldson, is a funny, lighthearted story of a compassionate girl staying true to herself, told with complex rhymes and expressive, colorful illustrations. There are fancy dresses, frilly dresses, stripy dresses, silly dresses, sun dresses, fun dresses, blue dresses, green. This prompted me to unearth some plays I’d written for a school reading group, and since then I’ve had 20 plays published. Therefore, each of them looks at the girl with the spotted hanky who moves into the cottage longingly. We work separately – he’s in London and I’m in Glasgow – but he sends me letters with lovely funny pictures on the envelopes.
