Description

Xa'chan - Xa'chan was a lord high general, a variant title for lord commander, of the Astra Militarum. It is common to refer to each of the lord commanders by the name of the segmentum which they lead, i.e. lord commander solar, lord commander tempestus, lord commander obscurus, etc. The rank also has variant titles which have been used by some of its holders, such as "lord high general."

Phillips - Phillips was the lord commander solar during the early years of the 41st Millennium. He was captured during the Roxane Rebellion by rebel forces, only to be rescued by the Donian General Macharius. After the battle and Macharius' victory over the rebels, Phillips made Macharius his successor as the lord commander solar. Phillips was later killed in action during the Lemort Landings. To aid you in this simplest of memory exercises, and to commemorate the latest victories of the reigning Lord Solar , we’ve compiled a simple and straightforward primer of command ranks. As he sees them, the lord solar's duties lie first with the defence of the Throneworld, then the Sol System, then its neighbouring sub-sectors and the segmentum's wider frontiers. Not just a robo-horse, it was an actual horse that's been converted into cybernetics over the years. Neat. If a rule allows you to re-roll a dice roll that was made by adding several dice together (2D6, 3D6 etc.) then, unless otherwise stated, you must re-roll all of those dice again. If a rule allows you to re-roll specific dice results, only those dice can be re-rolled. If a rule allows you to re-roll a specific dice result, but the result is obtained by halving a D6 (such as when rolling a D3), you use the value of the halved roll to determine if it can be re-rolled, not the value of the original D6. For example, if a rule states to re-roll results of 1, and you roll a D3, you would re-roll if the D6 rolled a 1 or a 2 (which is then halved to get a D3 value of a 1). He would never gainsay Primarch Roboute Guilliman's directives, but within their parameters Leontus has emerged victorious from many political battles with planetary governors, Navis Imperialis admirals and Officio Logisticarum adepts. With the aid of entire corps of strategic advisers, cloisters of priests and a personally maintained stable of psychic seers, prophets and Emperor's Tarot readers known as the Collegiate Astrolex, Leontus has masterminded hundreds of stunning victories. Inquisitor • Commissar • Priest • Tech-Priest • Enginseer • Sanctioned Psyker • Primaris Psyker • Wyrdvane Psyker If every model in an INFANTRY unit is on or in an Area Terrain feature with this trait, then it can either Hold Steady or it can Set to Defend (see below) when an enemy unit declares a charge against it.

Lucellin Tyberius - Lucellin Tyberius was a renowned and highly skilled lord commander of the Astra Militarum. At his death, his knowledge of military tactics and strategy, as well as his haughty and dominating personality, were cybernetically persevered in his gold-plated skull as a form of limited artificial intelligence for use by future generations of Imperial military commanders. The machine was named the Tactical Auto-Reliquary of Tyberius. Lord Commander of the Segmentum Solar • Lord Commander Militant • Lord High Admiral • Cardinal(s) of the Holy Synod of Terra • Abbess Sanctorum • Captain-General • Chancellor of the Estate Imperium • Speaker for the Chartist Captains • Lord Constable Unorthodox use of the tarot readers of The Collegiate Astrolex gives Leontus the ability to change one of his army’s secondary objectives or Agendas on the cusp of battle, reacting to his foe’s plans. Or if he’s feeling secure in his tactical choices, he can proceed with steely confidence and gain an additional Command point in the first Command phase.

Regimental Orders

His steed Konstantin* is decades old, now largely cybernetic and clad in gleaming armour. From this lofty perch, Arcadian Leontus commands the men and women of the Astra Militarum as they endure horrifying battles in their mission to protect the Imperium from the heretic, the mutant, and the alien. Arcadian Leontus - Leontus is the current lord commander solar of the Astra Militarum in the Era Indomitus, the supreme commander of all Astra Militarum forces in the Segmentum Solar, the very heart of the Imperium. Though his remit is technically confined to the defence of the Segmentum Solar, Leontus has led campaigns far beyond its boundaries. How else, he argues, can he protect Holy Terra from distant foes? Wearied by the horrors of war and the Imperium’s brutal demands, the Lord Solar knows that he may never see the fruits of his tireless efforts. Nevertheless, he continues to lead from the front – armed with his pistol Sol’s Righteous Gaze, and his power sword Conquest.

Though he's kept at his physical peak by a healthy diet, regular exercise, and staggeringly expensive rejuvenat treatments, Leontus has spent over a Terran century leading the Emperor's armies. Wearied by the horrors of war and the Imperium's brutal demands, the lord solar knows that he may never see the fruits of his tireless efforts. Nevertheless, he continues to lead from the front -- armed with his pistol Sol's Righteous Gaze, and his Power Sword Conquest. As befits the title ‘Lord Solar’, Leontus is supreme commander of all the Astra Militarumregiments within the ‘Segmentum Solar’– the core region of the Imperium of Mansurrounding Terra, seat of the Emperor of Mankind. However,WarCom’s articleconfirmshe’s also taken command of forays outside the Sol region, and won himself various battle honours. We also get a glimpse at a rather stunning, bombastic piece of art featuring Lord Solar Leontus, which’ll be on the front cover of the Imperial Guard’s upcoming 9th edition Warhammer 40k codex. Every trooper of the Astra Militarum knows that it is not their tireless work and bloody sacrifice that keeps the Hammer of the Emperor moving ever toward glorious victory. That honour must rightly be credited to the peerless tactics and unshakable leadership provided by the echelons of high command. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/10/31/lead-the-astra-militarum-from-the-front-with-the-legendary-lord-solar-leontus/The structure of the Astra Militarum is rigorously designed to best suit the needs of the Imperial war effort – long may it continue. At times, however, even greater sacrifice and derring-do are required to fulfil the Emperor’s vision. Should the High Lords of Terra choose, they may appoint a notable individual to command a full Crusade. Such honourees are given the weighty rank of Warmaster. Outside battle, however, he endures a weariness of spirit, privately appalled at the horrors he sees constantly perpetrated by the Imperium upon its own people. He has authorised many himself, having sent millions of guardsmen into the most terrifying conditions, but Leontus sees such steps as distasteful necessities on a path to ultimate salvation for Humanity. With grim pragmatism, the old soldier knows he will not see the hoped-for destination of his works. For him, it is enough that he paves the way. The five lord commanders are each responsible for directing the operations of all of the Imperial Guard forces within an entire segmentum of the Imperium.
