Description

The Garage 'box' is Very Good and Complete, with a pencil 2/6 on the front top corner, and an old gift note on the top rear in ink. Toytown was a BBC radio series for children, broadcast for Children's Hour on the Home Service from 1929.

The total number is hard to count: the Noddy Library (Sampson Low) of two dozen titles, which became the New Noddy Library when revised, was just part of a big production in the 1950s, with Big Noddy Books of larger format, and strip books. Big Ears, a wise, bearded gnome who lives in a toadstool house outside of Toyland and is Noddy's helper and father figure, as well as his best friend. The title of the book is always in different coloured letters, though the colours vary presumably based on how they look against the colour of the background. The other toys can hear him coming by the distinctive "Parp Parp" sound of his car's horn and the jingle of the bell on his blue hat. Some terminology that may be used in this description includes: Gatherings A term used in bookbinding, where a gathering of sheets is folded at the middle, then bound into the binding together.

Tricky Teddy, a teddy bear and companion of Gilbert Golly of mischief; in later adaptations they were replaced by a pair of teddy bears and finally by the Goblins Sly and Gobbo. Around the same time, softcover editions were also available – similar images but a lot less impressive. These little books were packed with Enid Blyton’s classic characters from Noddy and Big Ears adventures in Toy Town. The train is always present but the carriages change colour, again, probably depending on the background. Octavo yellow pictorial boards (rubbed to tips) (12pp) A few wrong creases but these still pop-up correctly.First edition first printing FILE COPY Publishers FIle stamp to front inside board The front board bottom right hand corner and back bottom left hand corner is slightly bumped. Big Ears, while usually kind to Noddy, can be very fierce and is both feared and respected by goblins, wizards, and even Mr.

Cloth "Cloth-bound" generally refers to a hardcover book with cloth covering the outside of the book covers. As noted above the steam on the front reads Pictures by Beek, and on the back reads All aboard for Toyland. It is said that Enid Blyton took inspiration for Noddy from the village of Studland in Dorset where she would holiday virtually every summer.

Judging by the cover they’re some sort of musical people, and I’m sure I will discover more as I read. Tubby is naughty and is usually in trouble for breaking rules, being rude, or doing something wrong. I can only assume that Noddy was such an attractive and easy-to-sell character that they didn’t feel the need to change or update the books in the same way they did for other series.Wrapper is faded to spine, with some grubby marks; a few closed tears and nicks to edges; minimal loss.
