So Yesterday i plugged in the Stepermotors after i connected the endstops. I'm pretty sure i wired it up correctly: 2B and 2A share a resistance of 2,7 Ohms and same for 1A 1B . I tested it on the solderpoints after i plugged the freshmade connectors in. My only complain so far with the default Ultrabase-like bed surface was the fact that you have to wait a lot for it to cool down so it can release the prints, and even at room temperature (24C) I had a hard time removing my PLA ones. And the isolation underneath the bed heating silicone element is not helping with cooling (but can’t argue with it’s pro’s during printing). My firmware has the Z offset set to 0. You can follow 3DMNs Z-Offset calibration video, but I prefer doing it the “easy way”. When I do changes to the probe height, I just start a print and during the brim I use babystepping to lower the nozzle until I get a perfect first layer. You also get a fast-heating AC hotbed. It takes roughly 130 seconds for the bed to hit maximum temperatures. This makes the Artillery Genius versatile enough to print a wide range of filament.

The Genius Pro 3D printer has a build area of 220 x 220 x 250 mm with a layer resolution of 0.1 to 0.35mm. Artillery recommends printing larger models in parts and assembling them afterward using glue for PLA and acetone of ABS. This is a true statement, but with a Bowden setup, it’s harder to control oozing and stringing. Besides that, retraction values are a lot higher compared to a Direct Drive.Despite these minor shortcomings, you won’t find a 3D printer out there that delivers excellent value for money better than the Artillery Genius. The unit is made for beginners and professional creators alike. It is definitely worth your consideration. There is also an improved and synchronized dual Z system that ensures both sides of the gantry move in unison. This improves printer stability, speed, and accuracy massively. All the mentioned issues are not present in a Direct Drive configuration, like on the Artillery Genius. Sure, it’s heavier, but the X gantry is also a lot stronger. A direct drive extruder allows for much better filament control. Linear advance - gives you the posibility to reduce the extrusion just before changing directions while printing. Because of inertia, the extruder cannot change directions and speed instantenously, it needs to slow down and accelerate again. This is especially obvious on sharp edges where the printer has to change direction by 90 degrees or more. Because the extrusion is constant, this slowdown followed by acceleration leaves a bit more material than it’s supposed to be on and around that sharp edge. Read more about linear advance.

I also tried the Alchemist miniature from Vae Victis. This time, I lowered the nozzle temp to 185C, 30mm/s print speed and 0.1 mm layer height. I recommend using digant’s version because it’s updated and works a lot better than my version. How to install custom screen firmware on Artillery Sidewinder X1 A large LCD colored touch screen display is also included to ensure you have all printer controls in one place As there is a lot of empty space inside the base of the printer, I have installed my PI next to the vents on the left side, behind the TFT. This way the PI is in the way of the airflow cooling the printer and it does not go over 50C even without a radiator. And all metal heatbreak The Artillery Genius also comes with a state of the art Direct Drive extruder designed to support flexible filament materials.

Artillery Genius Overview

A filament runout sensor and resume printing function are two essential features that every modern FDM 3D printer should have. In our case, the sensor is installed just below the spool holder located on top of the printer. It pauses the printing process if there is no more material to print with or if the filament gets tangled up or broken. The printing process can be resumed manually after resolving the issue. A synchronised, dual Z-axis, double lead screw and a closed synchronous belt ensure good performance. The exclusive Z-axis coupler avoids layer problems and gives the print a certain sophistication and better quality. The Artillery Genius can print with PLA, ABS, TPU, Wood, and flexible materials with a diameter of 1.75 mm. Featuring a maximum speed of 150 mm/s and wide material compatibility, this 3D printer can be used for the production of uniquely designed household items, props, toys, accessories, and hard-to-break prototypes. The manufacturer has also improved the belt pulley system for additional stability and precision during printing.

As we have noted above, the Artillery Genius is also loaded with some incredible features, some of which you won’t typically find in a mid-level brand. Here are some of the major ones:The Genius Pro also has a new power supply switch allowing users more power over the voltage. Users can switch between 100 V and 240 V without affecting print quality. Software/Connection The Artillery Genius is a budget-friendly desktop FFF/FDM 3D printer that offers decent build volume, wide material compatibility, and a handful of other features for a streamlined printing experience. It is equipped with a direct drive extruder that can heat up to 240°C and a heated build plate that can reach 130°C in less than three minutes. The Genius ships in a semi-assembled state, so it has to be assembled and calibrated manually. It indeed has some flaws in its design, but nothing comes as too hard to fix since the machine is highly upgradeable. This 3D printer would be good for both entry-level and experienced makers as well as some semi-professional applications. You can use the Artillery Genius to print uniquely designed household items, tabletop figurines and miniatures, cosplay accessories, props, hard-to-break prototypes, and much more. Babystepping - enables real-time movement of the axes by tiny increments without changing the current position value. This is useful during the first layer to adjust for a slightly missaligned bed leveling The build plate of the Genius Pro printer is made with tempered glass and ceramic. This glass has a high hardness to prevent models from warping. The print bed is designed to heat up fast. The AC-powered print bed can reach up to 70 C in just two minutes and up to 120 C after 60 seconds. One of the downsides of Genius Pro is that its print bed does not heat up evenly.
