Description

In the game, the Chaos Space Marines are an elite Kill Team with many different options, including terrifying melee weapons, huge guns, psychic powers and a vast array of synergies from the Marks of Chaos each Legionary in your kill team can take to pledge allegiance to a specific way of Chaos worship. You can field 5 operatives in addition to your leader, and you have 8 to choose from, all of which have more utility than a Legionary Warrior. All of this sounds like a lot, and it is, but the Butcher is also the only operative that hits on +4 and comes with 1 less attack than his peers, making him very vulnerable to counter charging from opposing melee specialists, or simply missing entirely.

Vicious Reflexes: Each time this operative fights in combat, in the Resolve Successful Hits step of that combat, if you are the Defender, then you start instead of the Attacker when resolving successful hits. Lastly, enemy operatives can not provide combat support against The Butcher, and treat the Butcher’s engagement range as ⬤ for the purposes of a Normal Move, Dash, or Fallback thanks to its Devastating Onslaught ability. A niche ability that requires operatives to be close to their opponents, which is somewhat unintuitive as the defense characteristic is not applicable to combat. The Legionary Kill Team is strong and has access to a myriad of ways to do a lot of damage to your opponent, so in many ways, playing them is pretty straightforward. If your roster contains any operatives with the KHORNE keyword, it cannot contain any operatives with the SLAANESH keyword (and vice versa).

All of these have their Pros and Cons, and if you’re attending larger events it helps to take a look at what teams one is likely to encounter. That’s not a terrible strategy at all, but you would be missing out on all the special weapons and abilities of other operative types that it’s not really worth it (or all that fun).

If the target did not lose any wounds as a result of that combat or shooting attack, repeat that combat or shooting attack. The Aspiring Champion is one of 2 leader options for the Legionary kill team, and it’s the one that most resembles other leaders in power armour: It has 13 wounds and a 3+ save. Each time this operative fights in combat, enemy operatives within Engagement Range of it cannot provide combat support for that combat.

This one is a must-have for a Gunner with a meltagun, since it gives you a better chance at doing its 4 mortal wounds per critical hit! This power is fantastic for buffing your Gunners, or the Acolyte himself as it plays well into his melee profile. The Legionaries Kill Team has been very popular since its release, and a regular fixture in top event placings. Rob and Ransack, Rout, and Eliminate Guards remain a strong combination, while HeadHunter can be very risky if you’re uncertain of your opponent’s playstyle.Keep in mind that this ability can only be used ONCE per Turning Point, so you can’t double up on two free ploys per TP. If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you’re just the right type of bitter madman to consider a Traitor Marines Kill Team. When a shooting attack targets an operative with this mark, you can turn one normal save into a critical save in the Roll Defence Dice Step of that at attack – a defensive buff that’s good for any specialist in your Kill Team that might be the target of enemy sniper fire.

Soul Feast: Each time this operative fights in combat, at the end of the Resolve Successful Hits step of that combat, if this operative has not been incapacitated and any of their strikes inflicted Critical Damage, this operative regains 2 lost wounds. A lot of Legionary abilities and special weapons revolve around or have special abilities based off critical hits, making this a decent option.Until the end of the Turning Point, while an enemy operative is within of that NURGLE operative, subtract 1 from the Def The operative making that attack can repeat it if the target didn’t lose any wounds from the first attack.
