Always supervise your pet during play, and regularly check your pet's toys, removing and replacing them if damaged or if parts become detached and could be a choking hazard, and seek immediate veterinary attention if any material is ingested. So whether you're looking to learn more about the sport or just stay up-to-date on the latest news, we've got you covered.

Kong dog toys encourage play, satisfying dogs' instinctual needs and strengthening the bond between dog and owner. Some dogs enjoy shredding the yellow-green fuzz that covers the tennis ball, but your dog is unable to do so because it does not digest the rubber or furry cover. Rabbit skin stuff gets washed in the sink, and everything else - including rubber balls - goes in the top tray of the dishwasher (yup, the dishwasher) when I get back from a walk.

It will be impossible to communicate with your dog if you believe that rewards are not coming from you but rather from your dog and are free. Toys made from all of these types of materials can get wet and collect particles of dirt, sand, and so on, especially when used outdoors. Kong tennis balls are made of rubber, and while this material is safe for dogs to chew on, it can be harmful if swallowed. If a dog ingests a large piece of rubber, it can block their digestive system and cause serious health problems.

Kong, a well-known and reputable company, also did not show up as toxic on the Ecology Center’s site. If your dog can’t play with tennis balls without obsessively chomping them, you might want to consider getting him an alternative toy.Toxic chemicals are present in some of these toys in greater concentrations than those found in mildly abrasive tennis ball fuzz.

Because there are no government regulations for pet toys, many are manufactured outside of the United States. Ultimately, it is up to the owner to decide whether or not they feel comfortable giving their dog a tennis ball to play with.

Because small children can easily choke on tennis balls, the FDA recommends that children under the age of six avoid playing with any type of ball, including tennis balls. Tennis balls can easily break into small pieces and cause severe intestinal blockage in large dogs, so they are a dangerous game to play. I would like to share some information that I have on our “tennis ball material” toys compared to standard tennis balls. Some people believe that playing with the balls is a harmless pastime, but others are concerned that ingesting them will lead to intestinal blockages or other health issues.
