Potent is an understatement, but I was judicious in how I used it, never more than one mist-and-walk through spray. I would not let it shout, but its presence was delightfuly apparent, and in those days before it became available in department stores, I had many, many appreciative comments and compliments. "What IS that fragrance? It is WONDERFUL!" I don't think I've ever received as many compliments on a fragrance I've worn since. It was absolutely a head-turner, for both women and men. I wouldn't recommend wearing this to the office, as to me this is more of a night-time, going out scent. I've worn it to a few classy dinners and got quite a few compliments. Projection is big, longevity is moderate to long. I sprayed it on my top as well, and it seems to perform even better on clothing. It's 3 p.m. and I can still smell it. Longevity and sillage are moderate (throughout the day) to heavy (first spray).

My next blind by will be McQueen by Alexander McQueen. I’ve been told this is as close to Truth or Dare as I will find. Being a girl on a budget I will have to save up, but I am excited to give it a try. But for now I’m enjoying my Giorgio! It makes me feel happy when I wear it my kids love it as well, and tell me mommy, you smell so pretty..😁. Sometimes I feel you can’t go wrong with the classic. I was given "Red" as a gift when the scent was new... so, I must have been about 15 years old. yes, this one is probably a bit much for a 15-year-old, but I was a 15-year-old who successfully wore Poison, almost every day, taking a "break" with Tabu... I remember the gifter admitting that she had chosen it for me because I have red hair. It came out at a time when audacity was allowed, when there was no current media in which opinions and criticism made no sense, but we perfumed ourselves with pleasure, we simply lived. Update: I gave it another shot because it was a very good price. Smells more like what I remember (maybe a bit more spicy than I remember but sweet enough). Obviously my last one was off. I still like it but not love it - I wonder if I've outgrown it? Today, we buy a perfume to be fashionable, to please those around us, we become specialists before the creators of perfumes, we are formatted in a certain culture draped in its little precarious authority.

Perfect for day and night time use (Does have that slightly more night time feel about it) and also smells and feels like Autumn when you wear it! So great for the fall season. It’s a peculiar scent in that it’s hard to classify as a fragrance personality. The incense squares it into “oriental” but it’s too soft and plush to play with carnal scents like “Tabu” or “Bal A Versailles”, though it seems like it should command a room with the same confidence. My favorite note is the gardenia. There is a creaminess there that contrasts beautifully with the chamomile. I’d like to get my hands on a vintage where the oak moss hasn’t been tampered with. I also have a tiny 7,5ml bottle of pure parfume which is one of the most precious items in my collection and all i can say: it can´t get better than that! More intense, ONE drop will last for days! It is still heavy on the tuberose, but i feel that the peach is more concentrated here and thatś why it is even smoother than the EDT. Gosh, i got very emotional, and have tears in my eyes now, literally! Tears of joy! Besides tuberose, notes of rose, rosemary, and jasmine begin to take off. The other floral notes ping off each other. Sillage is monster here, if over-sprayed. Red is never overly sweet. It is never demure. The heart remains a floral mish-mash for hours.

And so I was a happy young woman, happy because Giorgio Beverly Hills is, at its heart, a happy, fun-loving fragrance. Happy because my chemistry made this fragrance blossom and sing, and this unique fragrance was "mine" and mine alone, at least for a short while. But soon enough, that all changed. I think Giorgio is going to help me deliver exactly what I want to convey about myself to the general public. Actually, Giorgio Beverly Hills really just makes me smell like an old whore but I kinda dig that, actually. I have wanted to try this for a while, but the only store around that has this had no bottles designated as testers (which is ironic because the bottles they have for sale are testers). I had to return a faulty bottle of another fragrance for credit and it just so happened to cost exactly the same price, so after a quid pro quo swap I left the store. As usual I couldn’t wait to get home to try it so I put some on in my car before I turned on the engine. We are going through a phase in American history where I've been actively seeking a fragrance that would remind me of a more positive time in life. I'm needing a good dose of "sunshine in a bottle" -- and so I began researching fragrances that had more notes that resonated with this type of positive, happy, energy.My Mom bought me the BIG 3.4 ouncer of RED for Christmas 1989. I remember that time in my life VERY VIVIDLY. I was a 19 year Gal who had just fallen head over heels in love for the very first time, and those memories are absolutely ingrained in my brain. RED was there as a witness to that blissful time in my life, always making her presence known from her perch on top of my dresser, that was right beside my bed. Whether I wore her or not, my room was always permeated with her scent …because she was THAT STRONG…even just sitting there innocently on my dresser. Her fumes constantly wafted out from the glass and from under her hat cap.

If Red was a woman, this how I would envision her, beautiful and seductive, warm and inviting, intelligent and regal without arrogance. I have the smallest little remainder of my original vintage bottle, that I misered through the dark years when the scent was out of production. I simply can not understand all the negative comments and all the hate towards this beautiful and sunny iconic perfume.Red is a really wonderful surprise. Not loud, not pushy, not stinky. But rather a really lovely leather class fragrance that arrested my senses and delighted me and all who came close enough to get a whiff! It wasn’t “Dynasty”, or “Hotel” or “Knott’s Landing” in a bottle. It was rather elegant and refined.
