Description

The Arete One comes with a generous five-year parts and labour warranty. MeacoDry Arete One review: performance If you press the Smart Humidity mode button repeatedly, you can cycle between the available humidity targets, ranging from 40% to 70%rh, with a continuous option if you just want to keep dehumidifying, no matter what. Beyond that, maintenance is minimal for this machine. Because it’s white, it will show any dust that gathers on it, so it’s worth keeping the exterior clean just by wiping it down with a damp cloth occasionally. The HEPA filter will also need changing occasionally. How often depends on factors such as your environment and how often you use it, but on average Meaco suggests every three months. Just keep an eye on the colour and when it changes from white to grey, it needs replacing. This dehumidifier is really easy to move around. It’s not light, in fact, it weighs 10.9kg, but there is a handy retractable handle situated on the top of the machine, which makes lifting it a lot more comfortable.

Every aspect of the design and performance of this dehumidifier has the British user and climate in mind. For example: you told us that you wanted a dehumidifier you could push up against the wall to save space on your landing or in your hallway. With Arete, you can. Arete dehumidifiers are designed to work best between 10°C and 20°C to extract the maximum amount of water from the air when you need it most. Standard machines from the Far East are designed to work best at 27°C. Simple controls I tested it overnight in an unheated, external utility room that’s horribly prone to condensation, and it did a solid job of keeping the drips at bay. If you’re looking for a dehumidifier for a conservatory or garden room, this one should be up to the job for most of the year, although I’d still recommend a desiccant dehumidifier for use in colder areas and colder months.

Drop-off in Box

Meaco’s existing 20L MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier produced a maximum 44dB(A) of noise at one metre and consumed roughly 244W. The Arete One is specified to top out at 40dB(A) and consume around 250W, although – as we’ll see later – measured consumption is actually much lower. Because my house can get a little damp, wet washing can take so long to dry indoors. Especially over the winter months. When I had the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier running, the wet laundry I had hanging on my clothes airer was dry within hours. This charge will also be incurred in the event that a delivery fails due to, but not limited to, any of the following reasons:

In terms of running costs, Meaco says that the 20L unit costs 3.3p per hour based on 15.32p / kWh – and remember that the Smart Humidity Mode means that you probably won't be running the unit 24/7 unless you have a serious humidity problem, in which case a dehumidifier may not be your best long-term solution. If you want to run the dehumidifier permanently, you can connect a garden hose to it, dumping the water straight into a drain. That’s useful if you’re in a building that suffers from damp. The Arete One also offers Smart Laundry Mode for drying clothes; and Night Mode which switches the fan to low speed and disables both the lights and the audible 'tank full' alert beeps. Additionally, you can switch off the dehumidifier entirely and simply run it as a stand-alone air purifier, or you can choose to run the unit in continuous dehumidifying mode if you wish. What’s more, the new model comes in a 25L variant for larger households, which isn’t an option with the ABC range. This makes it the most powerful unit in Meaco’s current range and significantly quieter than the outgoing Meaco 25L model, which could dish out up to 50dB(A). So there’s no absolute cost to running a dehumidifier. But here’s something that might help. It’s a question from a happy customer! ‘What is the cost of running a dehumidifier?’

Access and Parking Restrictions

A cheaper alternative to the MeacoDry Arete One is the MeacoDry ABC 12L Dehumidifier. It's also quiet, at 36-40dB, though will only extract up to 12L of moisture a day (at 30°C and 80%rh), so is best suited to smaller spaces. It also forgoes the air purifying functionality, Smart Mode and Night Mode, although it does have Laundry Mode and the ability to schedule it to automatically turn off. This handle feels far more robust than most that I've come across on other dehumidifiers and is really easy to grip. To make sure your delivery goes as smoothly as possible, we need to know about any potential access or parking restrictions, which may cause problems. Please consider all the following factors: Parking Restrictions

In night mode I still found noise levels too high to sleep with it running in the same room, but it was fine running in a room downstairs or in another room, with only a barely perceptible low hum crossing walls or floors. MeacoDry Arete One review: What could be improved? The MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier's Smart Laundry mode also makes it one of the best dehumidifiers for drying clothes that I've tested. As mentioned, the water tank stores 4.8L and simply slides in and out of the body of the unit. On even the heaviest day of testing I didn’t have to empty it more than once, although I’ve generally been working at room temperatures of around 22°C with humidity levels starting at around 62-67%. If you’re dehumidifying a seriously damp space or one that’s been flooded, then you may have to empty more often. The unit also supports continuous drainage, although you’ll need your own hose and a nearby drain or sink. The MeacoDry Arete One 12L dehumidifier is a great buy for apartments or small to medium-sized houses, and it’s easy to move from room to room thanks to the extendable handle and castors, and compact enough to store easily when not in use.Larger homes, or those with more serious damp issues, may benefit from opting for the MeacoDry Arete One 20 or 25L which offer the same great functionality with an increased extraction capacity. We feel that the Night Mode is not just for night time but anytime when you want the dehumidifier to be as quiet as possible.

Arranging a Delivery Date

Whilst performance can vary when it comes to drying clothes due to factors like ambient room temperature and the type of fabrics you've washed, I tested the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier several times whilst drying washes and my washing was always airing-cupboard dry and ready to put away once the cycle had completed. A simple easy to use control panel – we made the most often used buttons larger and the least used buttons smaller There are two versions of this product, one that can remove 20 litres of water per day and a larger 250-litre per day model (at 30ºC and 80% relative humidity; the water removal depends on the environment you’re in). Both have a 4.8-litre water tank, which means that the worst-case scenario would involve emptying it several times per day; in my tests, the tank needed emptying every one or two days. There’s a status light that indicates when the tank needs emptying – the dehumidifier shuts down automatically when the tank is full. Will our driver team have any difficulty parking outside your property? Are there yellow lines or other parking restrictions in effect? Steps or Stairs Of course, it’s also quite expensive and for smaller rooms and spaces you can save some cash with a more compact 10-12L dehumidifier. But when you need serious drying power, you need a dehumidifier that’s up to the job – and here the Arete One has you covered.

We have not included a free hose in our dehumidifiers for a few years now because more than 90% of users told us that they do not use them, so they just end up in landfill. Our aim is to reduce plastic waste, so we changed the way we do things. Despite our best efforts, occasionally there will be extraordinary circumstances which prevent us from turning up on time with your goods.Things such as traffic accidents, extreme weather, vehicle breakdowns might prevent us from getting the right goods to you, undamaged and on time. This is why we strongly advise our customers not to book kitchen fitters until the goods are in your possession and you've inspected them. Access and Parking Restrictions Thank you for the heads up on the typo, we have fixed that straight away. At 7p per hour it will be 56p for the example of 8 hours. Note that the 'L' here refers to how many litres of water the machines can remove from the air each day, at 30C and 80% relative humidity. It does not refer to the size of the tank, which is 4.8 litres on both models. Also note that you won't actually be removing that amount of moisture per day, unless you like your home to have the hot and moist ambience of a tropical rainforest. MeacoDry Arete One review: design and features I've been really pleasantly surprised by how quiet the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier is.Especially considering noisy operation is usually one of the biggest downsides of running a compressor dehumidifier. We are asked lots of questions on our Live Chat on a daily basis. One of the most common questions is ‘How much does it cost to run a dehumidifier?’ Please note that the areas we deliver to on weekends will vary and we may not be able to offer a weekend delivery to your area. This dehumidifier also offers a night mode which keeps the fans on low in case you want to use it in a bedroom overnight, but, I found the MeacoDry Arete One very quiet whichever mode I had it running in. For comparison, Pro Breeze's most energy-effecient comprssor dehumidifier, the Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier, uses 220W to the MeacoDry 12L Arete One's 151W, and costs roughly 6p per hour to run.The Pro Breeze Low Energy dehumidifier also has several other issues that the MeacoDry 12L Arete One does not, as you'll find out in my Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy dehumidifier review. All Arete One dehumidifiers come with a medical grade H13 HEPA filter which is 75% larger than the filter on our popular Low Energy models. It can be used to clean the air during dehumidification and as a stand-alone air purifier throughout the spring and summer months.
