Matching the more sophisticated sensibilities of the feature film, this DVD contains none of the humdrum DVD games that have become a staple of children's DVDs. The Incredibles is an ambitious production with such painful attention to detail that it is actually more rewarding with repeated viewings, a genuine bonus for owners of the DVD. Find a better reproduced animated film (or perhaps any kind of film) than The Incredibles, and you have done something truly special. An awesome movie that tips the scale and shifts the posts for every subsequent superhero tale to come.

Michael Giacchino, who has created scores for video games and the TV series Alias, provides a horn-heavy score of such brassy bravura it's more Bond than James Bond.

Also, from a production standpoint, it showed how good but unnecessary ideas have the potential to create a vortex that just consumes resources. Bird knows how to play the two sides of a story off each other to create a story that both enthralls and evokes feelings. For a company that puts out brilliant film after brilliant film, to say that this is one of the best is saying a lot.

They become friends, but there are problems when the townsfolk realize that a giant robot from outer space is living in the vicinity.

What emerged was a part-domestic drama, part-comic book homage that has a very stylised look and is consistently entertaining. But if they have to help each other, they do and this shows that they really care about one another.
