Andrew Hernandez on The White Storm 3: Heaven or Hell (2023) Review I had hopes for this one after MAAC gave it a positive review. Hopefully this… Calibrated with Calman color calibration software and Portrait Displays C6 HDR2000 colorimeter from Portrait.com) Then come the fights, among the most splendidly choreographed outbursts in Chan’s career, and that’s not said lightly. Short of Police Story’s epic mall battle, the amount of shattered glass during Dragons Forever’s finale is unbelievable. Stunt work looks absolutely painful, and the speed doesn’t even seem possible for human beings.

UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) ofthe International Version [94 mins] [Commissioned by Golden Harvest for international audiences outside Asia] with the English Dub and optional English SDH Gaylord Picht on Hard Target | 4K UHD + Blu-ray (Kino Lorber) That's fantastic news! I'm thrilled to hear that the 116 min test screening v… Ska Martes on Hard Target | 4K UHD + Blu-ray (Kino Lorber) Love this movie. The Legacy of Dragons Forever - stuntmen Troy Sandford and Chris Jones, and filmmaker Boyask, amongst other, discuss the unique chemistry between the stars of Dragons Forever. In English. (3 min) Out-takes & Behind the Scenes (12:57) – a series of outtakes and b-roll footage from the production.Of course, the prize is all of the stunt footage and mishaps that typically close out Chan’s film.Interestingly, there is quite a bit of fan interaction in the footage. The footage runs over the score from James Wong Jim.

UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) of the International Version [94 mins] [Commissioned by Golden Harvest for international audiences outside Asia] with the English Dub and optional English SDH The Breaker - this archival program takes a closer look at the acting and fighting careers of Billy Chow, who has a memorable role in Dragons Forever. In English and Cantonese, with English subtitles where necessary. (35 min This appears to be Director and Co-Star Hung’s touch as there is the sort of feel that Millionaires Expresshas to its comedic stylings than say Chan’s more physical comedy ala Meals on Wheels. The result is a film that works as well as a romance as it does as an action vehicle without the sort of danger and peril faced by Chan in his normal comedic entire.

As an enthusiast I appreciate a well-crafted sound mix that draws me into the onscreen elements, regardless of where the sounds are emanating from. This Atmos mix is fair, occasionally broadening the soundstage and incorporating occasional point by point cues. It had potential but, I couldn’t help but feel let down by it. Music Video [English] (2:55) – the same music video just an English Language version of the song that closes out the film. Outtakes and Behind the Scenes - a collection of outtakes and behind the scenes footage, some quite painful but very funny, presented with music. (13 min)

Hong Kong Cinema Forever: Interview with Mike Leeder (6:05) – in this all-too-brief interview Leeder gives us a context of why this – the last of the Three Brothers Films – is so good, a personal account of Dragons Forever– including a hilarious discussion the conditions in which he saw the film for the first time, and more.In English. Extras: New 4K presentations of all three cuts, commentaries on Hong Kong and Japanese cuts, interviews, outtakes, poster, booklet, lobby cards]

Produced exclusively for the Japanese market, this Cantonese-language version includes two extra scenes and an ending with outtakes) Ska Martes on In February Criterion will release 4K UHD + Blu-ray for Johnnie To’s ‘Heroic Trio’ and ‘Executioners’ starring Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui and Maggie Cheung Great movies and the kind of megastar casting that you just don't get anymore… Dragons Foreveris peak Chan, peak Biao, and peak Hung.A long way of saying it’s a nearly perfect Action Rom-Com. The Transfer(s)

I found the Ultra HD presentation of Dragons Forever allows its attributes to be fully realized in a way that it probably hadn’t been before. I believe that what we are seeing is a faithful rendering of the film’s elements. The question now becomes, is the Ultra HD version worth considering? I would say that if you’re a fan and want to own Dragons Forever in 4K with HDR and, Dolby Atmos sound, the answer is a resounding yes. Music Video [Cantonese] (2:55) – the original Cantonese version of the song that closes out the film. The Music video is a series of production stills. In Cantonese with English Subtitles. I have never seen this movie before so I am trying to decide which cut I should watch. I am leaning towards the Japanese version as it seems to have more scenes that what feature in the HK and the English version (as the English version has extra scenes also but it cuts some stuff from the HK version, whereas the JPN version has them all I think). However the HK version would be the theatrical "original" experience. That gives life to the characterization and their story arcs, mixed in with goofy rom com love that sees Chan falling for the opposition. Dragons Forever can subsist on that entertaining farce, even as the cliches pile on. There’s the dinner in which Chan must keep his girlfriend in the dark about others in the home, and a manic boat date that ends in sensational fisticuffs. It’s charmingly uncomplicated, routine, and predictable, sustained because Chan is such a joy to watch flailing around, trying to save the relationship; his action-comedy timing remains unmatched.Interviews begin with stuntman Chin Kar-Lok, the move on to writer Szeti Cheuk-Hon, actor Benny Urquidez, professor David Desser, Mike Leeder, and stuntmen Joe Eigo, Andy Chang, Jude Poyer, and Billy Chow (all individually). A brief two-minute retrospective is followed by set footage/outtakes (12-minutes worth). Music videos and trailers cap this sensational, hours long extras set. Extras: New 4K restoration, commentary, documentary, featurettes, deleted scenes, short film] House of Terrors [Mondo Macabro] The Legacy of Dragons Forever Featurette with today’s actors & martial artists including Troy Sandford, Chris Jones, Ross Boyask, Maria Tran, Mike Leeder, Jean-Paul Ly, Mark Strange, Mike Moeller, George Clarke, Jude Poyer & Steve Lawson UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) of the CYCLONE Z Version [98 mins] [Produced exclusively for the Japanese market, this Cantonese-language version includes two extra scenes and an ending with outtakes]
