Description

No Grain, No Pain is an amazing book that covers basic nutrition too. So if you have family members suffering from other things than a gluten intolerance, you will find his books and resources eye-opening. Within the book there are recipes, scientific explanation as to why you feel the way you do, good dietary and supplement explanations, the best part is his list of chemical/FDA names for things that contain grains that may be found on the ingredient lists to help you stay away from them during you road to recovery. Dr. Osborne: So I want, I want the listening audience to expand your minds of possibility here. Meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, even some small quantities of seeds, depending on the status of your gut are all acceptable. If we add all those different options that we’re looking at, well over 300 different options. If we’re talking about what’s commercially available in most grocery stores. The fact of the matter though is most people eat less than 10 fruits and vegetables. In essence, their diets are so restrictive in that way and they just haven’t expanded their mind. And there’s a learning curve with this. Part of that learning curve is what do I do with green chart? What do I do with rainbow chard? What do I do with a turnip, right? Because people just don’t cook with them so they don’t know how to cook with them or preparing them to where they’ll taste well or taste good. But then there’s this whole realm of biochemistry … And this is where really functional medicine shines … There’s this whole realm of biochemistry that very rarely gets investigated by pretty much most doctors. That realm of bio-chemistry, I call it the Four Fundamental Factors. You’ve got to know a person’s nutritional status, whether or not they have the raw ingredients that their body needs to produce new tissue, to heal and repair damaged tissue. These are B vitamins. vitamin C. Calcium. Zinc. Magnesium. Chr onium. Se linium. Copper. You know, nutrients. What I don't like is the fact that this plan is really unrealistic for a majority of people for many reasons. In the book it claims you can just rearrange bills and sell things to be able to make buying strictly organic foods possible, but in reality that's not possible for most people. Is he correct that organic foods are the much safer option when trying avoid any gluten? Absolutely. Can most people just easily make life changes to make this diet work? No. Not these days. symptoms are more clear and obvious, but the ones with gluten sensitivity have all those mysterious symptoms, hard to link to gluten.

But one of the other side effects of this class of medication is that they can actually contribute to vitamin and mineral deficiency. Most notably with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories you can get folate, vitamin C and iron deficiency over long terms of using these medications. Well, how does that create a pain trap? Dr. Osborne: These are toxins produced By mold. They’re not the same thing as mold. Mold is a living thing, whereas the mycotoxin is, think of it as an exhaust and exhaust byproduct of mold, but mycotoxins suppress the immune system. They can upregulate certain components of the immune system creating, creating an inflammatory response, and they’re highly linked to cancer. So one of the biggest dietary sources of mycotoxin is grain consumption. So those are just two examples of many examples I talk about in the book on grainflammation where the components or elements of grand can actually lead to an inflammatory response systemically in a person’s body. Sometimes people have deficiencies. We live in a world where we’ve all been told, “We’re not a third world country. We don’t worry about malnutrition anymore” and that’s just not true. I see malnutrition in my practice every single day because what most people eat is so processed and so laden with garbage and so nutritionally deficient, that they’re getting plenty of calories but they’re not getting plenty of micro-nutrients. And so that’s part of where, again, functional medicine shines because we investigate that. We measure it. So that’s one of the fundamental factors.

YOU MUST eliminate all grains, all grain relatives, pseudo grains and related products such as corn and soy, eliminated GMOs, antibiotic/hormone products. They still have mycotoxins, they still have heavy metals, they still a very high glycemic and so they contribute to diabetes. There’s just too many problems involved around eating those as staple foods.

So if we’re really talking about are these things nourishing, is that fiber nourishing? No, it’s not really nourishing. It’s counter-nourishing. Plus it shuts down our pancreas. Plus it causes digestive problems. Then if we look at some of the other ways and the way grain and legumes are farmed, most of them contain very high levels of molds and mycotoxins. Now our body has to deal and metabolize mycotoxins, which it doesn’t do very well for most people. They don’t do very well. Especially patients who are already in chronic pain. That’s one of the reasons they are in this scenario is they’ve been eating this staple food that’s full of mycotoxin and mold and they don’t metabolize those things very well so it creates an inflammatory response. I can not begin to tell you the difference from Jan 21 to Feb 23 it has been. 23 off and much less pain. Yes this book talks about how to change your eating habits but it also talks about why and give living and breathing examples. Along with videos for you to watch. One of the most amazing things for me was this is not a diet folks this is a life change. I eat more than i have ever eaten and feel better. Dr Osborne's book will walk you thru the steps and tell you why you things happen like they do. As a Celiac this was my life saver. I highly recommend this book to anyone who suffers from any kind of audio immune ailment as when you read the book you will see how so many things are connected to the Celiac gene. Awesome. So you wrote a whole book on this topic, and the name of the book is … You want to tell everyone what the name of the book is? Today we are joined by Dr. Peter Osborne, DC authorof the #1 best selling book No Grain, No Pain.Dr. Peter Osborne is the clinical director of Origins Health Care in Sugar Land, Texas. He is adoctor of chiropractic, doctor of functional medicine, doctor of pastoral science, and a BoardCertified Clinical Nutritionist.

Dr. Osborne: Okay? Otherwise what happens is you’re getting a highly processed rain with other additives and other dough conditioners and other chemicals and that’s not good for you, It is estimated that autoimmune pain affects 46 million Americans. For chronic pain the numbers are even higher. If you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, or celiac disease, this book is for you. If you suffer with inflammatory skin or bowel diseases, this book is for you. If your doctor has prescribed you fistfuls of medicine with no end in sight, this book is for you. If you’ve got a chronically ill cancer patient who’s got a huge tumor and they are in severe pain, give them the opioid. That’s not the issue. What we’re talking about, traditionally are people who just haven’t been taken through the right criteria to justify the use of such a drug on day one. Dr. Osborne: There are several different types. You can do antibody testing against zonulin and occludin. These are different proteins that help seal the tight junctions together in the gut wall. But sometimes those are. Those are not the most accurate way. The problem with leaky gut is we know it exists, we’ve, we’ve identified it, we’ve researched it, but it’s, it’s like this leaky gut is not caused by the same things every time. It’s just like if we lined people up and they all had leaky gut, they might all have it for different reasons. So if we want with, we run one type of lab tests where we’re looking for one of those reasons for that person, we may not find it. So again, that’s in a lot of gi doctors won’t run any tests, not because leaky gut doesn’t exist, but because they don’t want. They either don’t read the literature because if they read medical literature, they would know it absolutely exists beyond the shadow of a doubt, but to because of the problem with definitive testing.

The patients rarely got any better, because the pain medications came with some pretty hefty side effects including gut damage, vitamin and mineral deficiency, hormone disruption, immune suppression, fatigue, liver damage…the list goes on and on. When I asked if we could apply some fundamental nutrition with these patients, I was told that nutrition had nothing to do with disease.
