The new De'Longhi 220ml LatteCrema System mixes steam, air and milk in the correct proportions to deliver automatic milk texturing at the touch of a button. The electronically controlled steaming system features three in-built sensors to detect the carafe and milk level, an auto clean function and dishwasher safe parts. After the automatic cleaning, the ergonomic carafe can be stored in the fridge to keep milk fresh when not in use.The anti-scratch drip tray has a removable grid that can go straight into the dishwasher when those inevitable coffee stains start to appear. The milk carafe components are also dishwasher-safe and the brewing unit lifts out for simple cleaning and maintenance. The machine grinds your beans right before you use them to preserve the coffee aroma, and leaves no residual coffee in the unit to ensure your next cup is just as fresh. There is a steam arm and a coffee dispenser on the front of the machine and the latter is very easy to slide up and down so that you can fit a variety of mug sizes beneath it. This is a simple but very welcomed design element as many machines require you to move the drip tray to fit a taller mug beneath the dispenser. Control panel with easy-to-use soft touch display, including colour icons for a range of one-touch recipes. I have had this for a couple of weeks now and it is amazing. I would have given it 5 stars except it is not perfect. Almost perfect but a couple of changes (Mr or Ms DeLonghi - if you are listening) would make it perfect.

If you’re someone who knows exactly how they like their coffee, the My Latte function allows you to select specific quantities of coffee, milk and foam to suit your taste, so you can programme it to serve your favourite concoction every time. Now the not so good. Small things that added up to one point. First the set up. Not hard at all if the instructions were better!! Unfortunately they are all pictures with some of them making no sense to me at all. Mr or Ms DeLonghi.... just a couple of words would have helped enormously. Second the size of the milk carafe. Now I like a large coffee so it only hold enough milk for 2 coffees for me. I would have liked a bigger milk carafe. There are bigger ones on more expensive machines but I had to go with how many flybuy points I had to get it. 3rd having an easy way to get the beans out of the machine would be good. I tried some that I didn't like and it was very difficult to get them out and replace them with better beans. I don't know if other machines are the same and it is a small thing but changing them would make the EVO perfect. Controlling the Magnifica Evo is simple due to a touchscreen that has a symbol for each of the functions and an option to make two coffees at once. The steam arm can also be used to dispense hot water if you want to top up your coffee or even make tea instead. This machine doesn’t come with a milk jug which was disappointing considering its price. Because of the design, we found a deep milk jug wasn’t suitable for use with the steam wand because it wasn’t long enough to reach into the cold milk.Grinding your favourite coffee beans fresh from its integral hopper, just before preparing your drink to preserve their rich aroma, its fully automated dosing and brewing system makes it easy to brew a range of your favourite coffees, with the option to customise your settings to prepare your coffee exactly how you like it. Simply add your favourite coffee beans and the integrated conical steel grinder will create freshly ground espresso at the touch of a button. Choose from 13 grind settings, calibrated for accuracy and precision to ensure the best coffee aroma is extracted. Choose your desired length, strength and brewing temperature, and Magnifica Evo will automatically grind, dose, tamp and infuse for the ultimate extraction. This machine comes with a range of impressive features that make it stand out from the competition. The steam arm doesn’t come with a compatible milk jug as standard so when we used a steaming jug we already owned, the wand wasn’t long enough to reach into the milk. This, of course, is easily fixed with a smaller milk jug but do bear in mind that you won’t be able to froth as much milk in one go. It was also a little disappointing not to have a milk jug included, despite the price of this machine. When we did make a cappuccino, the steam arm did a great job of frothing and adequately heating the milk within 20 seconds. The milk was silky and well-frothed and held its shape well when mixed with the espresso.
