Description

The A-Stand – AMMO presents an exclusive new range of lacquer-based, high- performance paints designed for modelling use. Formulated with ultrafine pigments, A-Stand is a range of professional paints that offers extremely realistic finishes difficult to match by other brands on the market. The A-Stand range offers a complete solution for the modeller: it includes an extensive colour chart of metallic and transparent tones, as well as primers and varnishes. These paints provide perfect results for any modelling subject, whether aircraft, military or civilian vehicles, figures, science-fiction and fantasy, or dioramas, providing a highly durable finish when dry. Why do you need A-Stand? The excellent fluidity of A-Stand products makes them easy to spray without clogging the airbrush. They also provide a tough and durable finish once dry, allowing the application of any other lacquer, enamel weathering products, or acrylic paint on top without issue. A-Stand products dry to the touch in a short period of time of approximately 30 minutes, depending on the amount of paint applied, ambient humidity and temperature. The A-Stand paint series includes various lines of products used to apply a range of effects and finishes on your models. What are the advantages of A-Stand? The range of A-Stand… HG and RG kits usually have smaller panel lines, so choose a smaller tip marker like .01 or .005 if you can find one. For MG kits, they obviously have bigger width panel lines, which you can use bigger tip markers such as .05 and above. Caring For Your Gundam Markers Of course, to get the best out of your markers, cover them up immediately after you are done using them. When you use your markers or expose them to air for more than 30 seconds, they begin to dry up. This is especially frequent in brush types. All that’s left now is cleaning up. The goal here is to remove very small amounts with each pass, using either your scalpel or sanding file. When using a scalpel, alternating your cuts from each side helps to reduce the chance of tearing the plastic, as does only shaving off a small amount with each pass. Colour correction and custom paint jobs

For panel lining, pour-types and liner type Gundam markers are your go-to markers, although the liner type is the most suitable for panel lining. While Gundam markers are often bought in singles, sets of markers (typically 6), can also be bought. After the initial cut, your next one can be much closer to the model and, depending on the visibility of the cut and size of the runner join, you might be able to get away with cutting flush. Otherwise try to leave a small amount of sprue material on the piece.

Preparing your model

To use brush types for panel lining, simply apply like a liner type. Its paint is fluid and easily fills troughs or molds.

Be careful not to put too much pressure on the Gundam Marker tip as it can be damaged. If you look closely at your marker tip, it’s actually like a small soft sponge. Damaged or frayed tips do not give a nice clean line. It is better to choose the appropriate tip size for the right kind of panel line. Liner Type, Brush Type, and Pour Type Gundam markers have different types of paint in them. The Liner Type and Pour Type Markers have oil-based paint and have to be shaken vigorously before use. Gundam markers are special pens used by model builders and hobbyists to paint and detail their Gundam plastic model kits.

Pour Type Gundam Markers are oil-based and have solid plastic tips that stand out. During panel lining, the markers will either pour out or provide a sleek ink flow. Pour Type Gundam Markers How To Use Gundam Markers First, pull out the nib with the nib facing upward. The nib should be pulled in a single motion, as wiggling can easily damage the nib. Liner Type Gundam markers have a hard-felt tip and oil-based ink (identifiable by their blue bodies). Liner Type Gundam markers Caution must be taken when using particular solvents in cleaning paint, as some solvents, such as nail polish removers, contain chemicals that can eat through the plastic. Since the brush tips are larger, it tends to leave messy lines. In this case, you can easily wipe them off or any excess ink using tissue paper, rubbing alcohol, or a rubber eraser. This will create clean and sharp lines.

There are 3 major categories of Gundam markers, including Liner Types, Brush Types, and Pour Types. Liner Types, Brush Types, and Pour Types are the three primary classifications for Gundam markers. How To Use Liner Type The nib should be reinserted into the marker in the same way that it was withdrawn. To test the flow, press the nib on a napkin. There are various kinds of Gundam markers on the market, so it can be confusing as you try to figure them out. This is especially true if you are a beginner. The advantage is that panel lining will be faster and easier since it will be semi-automatic. You just have to remove the excess paint blobs after drying. Also, using this method can yield finer and cleaner panel lines on your Gunpla kit. The disadvantage in using the “panel wash” method is the risk of applying too much panel line enamel paint as your plastic parts might become brittle after the enamel paint has dried. This is because enamel paint corrodes the plastic material that Gunpla parts are made of when too much is applied, so make sure that you dab the brush of the panel line accent color on some paper or on the rims of the bottle to remove excess paint. “Panel Wash” Lining Materials This is everything I’ll be using in this guide. I’ll call out specific brands and paint codes as I use them. However, based on consumer demand, most sets of Gundam markers contain mainly Pour-type Gundam markers. You’ll want to start by opening a window, or working somewhere with decent ventilation. Enamel fumes are really unpleasant and if you’re doing this for an extended period please make sure you take the appropriate precautions! Because wriggling may easily destroy the nib, the nib should be withdrawn in a single motion. After rinsing with warm water for a few minutes, pat dry with a napkin.
