Clare Holman played Sue Tutt in "Ring Out Your Dead" (2002), Rose Southerly in "Country Matters" (2006) and Fiona Beauvoisin in "The Miniature Murders" (2019). Detective Sergeant Charlie Nelson ( Gwilym Lee) (series 16–18)—When Jones was promoted, he was replaced by DS Charlie Nelson. Nelson was the first Sergeant to not serve alongside Tom Barnaby. He was a lodger at Kate's house. Nelson left the series after season 18. Giles Braithwaite receives a call from Frank Bishop. Frank wants to meet with Giles at 2 am after his flight gets in. Rosalind Knight played Eleanor Macpherson in "Birds of Prey" (2003) and Mother Jerome in "A Sacred Trust" (2011).

There were a few other characters here that just filled in space, like Bishop's wife (and mother to John). The sculptor who was commissioned to do a beautiful metal piece who is engaged (or was) to an equally aggressive, hurt feelings brute of a bully who also hated John because of how he was treated by the ladies. Wouldn't have mind if he was murdered, btw. This whole episode basically had me wanting MORE people dead. Is that sad for me to say? Trust me...there are episodes of MM where the people you think or, wish that should die, doesn't. Selina Cadell played Phyllis Cadell in the pilot episode "The Killings at Badger's Drift" (1997) and Eleanor Crouch in "Midsomer life" (2008). Later at night, Gerald goes to look at the statue. He climbs up on it and pulls a document out of the left hand of the statue. He goes home. In "Murder Of Innocence", it is revealed that Jones is in a relationship with firefighter Susie Bellingham. In the series 16 opener, "The Christmas Haunting", it is revealed that Jones has been promoted to Inspector and transferred to Brighton. A photo of Jones (alongside Kate Wilding, who also moved to Brighton) is shown in the series 18 opener "Habeas Corpus". DI Jones made a further appearance in episode 3 of series 19 "Last Man Out", in an undercover role - erroneously still listed in the credits as DS Ben Jones. In the end, he left Causton CID after a mini farewell party at John and Sarah Barnaby’s home at the end of episode 6 of series 15, "Schooled in Murder". Iris goes upstairs and finds her apartment has been broken into and trashed. She calls Chief Inspector Barnaby and tells him that her flat's been broken into. She asks him to meet her at the statue of Tom Sayers. There's something she wants to show him. She hangs up the phone. Then she hears a noise.

Grace grabs Iris Holman's hand. Camilla says, "I'm not much of a boxing fan." Joyce says, "You're not alone there." Tom Barnaby says, "Not by a long shot. I'm surprised that Grace Bishop hasn't got more of a stomach for this kind of thing." Barnaby and Jones go to Morchard Manor. They tell Gerald about Iris Holman and her request to meet them at the statue of Tom Sayers. Robert Daws played Mike Spicer in "Hidden Depths" (2005), and Hamish Rafferty in "Curse of the Ninth" (2017).

Cully Barnaby (later Dixon) ( Laura Howard) (series 1–13)—Tom and Joyce's only child takes her first name from a village on Lake Geneva in Switzerland, where she was conceived during her parents' honeymoon. An inquisitive and bold young woman, she's inherited her parents' friendly attitudes and community spirit. Early in the series, she attended Cambridge University and dated a fellow drama student, called Nico ( Ed Waters). After that, she sometimes went out with and secretly flirted with DS Troy and DS Scott. She is an actress and frequently takes temporary jobs in the Midsomer area when "resting" between assignments. Like her mother, her tendency to do community work often leaves her personally involved with the murders that take place. She meets Simon Dixon ( Sam Hazeldine) in "The Axeman Cometh", becomes engaged to him in "Death In A Chocolate Box", and marries him in "Blood Wedding". That is the irony of it. You see, Frank Bishop was so determined that his man would win that he did a bit of pre-fight tampering. Kinsella didn't know. But he was told this morning he had failed a drugs test.Starting with what "The Noble Art" does well, the production values as always are just great, the idyllic look of it contrasting very well with the story's grimness, and quaint and atmospheric photography. The music fits perfectly, with some lush jauntiness and sometimes an ominous quality, and the theme tune one of the most memorable and instantly recognisable of the genre. She held the document that legalised the wager. She was asking for money. But what she really wanted was revenge. John Lightbody is gardener Steve Hope in "Hidden Depths", in "Death and Dust", he plays the role of Jason Slater. Grace goes to the Boxing practice center. Ken Touhy is there to practice. Camilla and Gerald are at Giles' office, but he's not in. Iris asks if she can help. Camilla and Gerald leave. Grace meets with Giles at her house.

At the forge, Ken Touhy tells Libby he is going out. Libby is unhappy that he isn't interested in her sculpture. Ken is jealous of the man who posed for the statue, John Kinsella.Samantha Bond starred in three episodes: first in "Destroying Angel" (2001) and "Shot at Dawn" (2008), and again in Neil Dudgeon's 2011 debut as lead character, the episode "Death in the Slow Lane". In the gym, Grace is practicing boxing with Teddy. Frank comes in and wants to know what Ken Tuohy was doing in the gym. Teddy tells him Ken told him he'd done a bit of boxing and wanted Teddy to have a look at him. He was nothing special. Frank says, "Just a one-off, then? Because if I thought he'd been here more than once, I'd have to start wondering what you're up to. You and this...loving wife of mine." Sebastian looks at Gerald and then walks out. Gerald says, "Ladies and gentlemen! Ladies and gentlemen, please raise your glasses to the champion of Midsomer Morchard. Now champion of the world! John Kinsella!" ( Cheering ) Maggie Steed played Rosemary Furman in "Judgement Day" (2000), Lynne Fox in "Left for Dead" (2008), and Sylvia Mountford in "Schooled in Murder" (2013). He used to be a Freemason, as revealed in "King's Crystal". In the episode "Death in Chorus", Jones exhibits a remarkable vocal talent and is recruited to sing tenor in the Midsomer Worthy choir. In "Death in the Slow Lane", it is revealed that Jones was interested in replacing Tom Barnaby upon his retirement and was a little put out by his cousin, John Barnaby, being transferred to the position instead. In reality, he could not have been given the post because it would have required him to bypass the rank of inspector.

Joyce and Barnaby arrive at Morchard Manor. Joyce is helping plan the Reenactment. She runs inside and shows Grace and Camilla a poster printed for the event. Joyce says, "What do you think? Magnificent brutes, aren't they?" Grace says, "Joyce! You're right. That'd definitely persuade me to go to the fight." Camilla says, "They didn't have posters in 1860. All the arrangements had to be hush-hush in case the police found out and stopped it." Grace says, "That was 150 years ago. This time round, we need all the publicity we can get." Camilla says, "I was only trying to show that I'd done my research." Grace says, "Hey, you don't have to justify yourself to me. I'm not that husband of yours. We're very happy to have you in charge." The Fight: In Morchard Manor, a group of villagers are watching the fight of local John Kinsella at Madison Square Garden, New York City, NY. Libby runs up after Ken. Grace says, "They're only pretending! Your Ken will be all right." Libby says, "It's not Ken that I'm worried about. It's John." Grace says, "My John is champion of the world, love. I think he knows how to take care of himself." Libby says, "You don't know what Ken's capable of. He's got the strength of a bull when he's angry. And he's way beyond angry." Grace looks at Libby and says, "Do you mean you and my John have been....." Libby nods... "and right now, all he wants to do is rip John's head off his shoulders." ( Cheering )Solicitor James Jocelyne ( Timothy Bateson) appeared in "Written in Blood", "Death's Shadow", and "Orchis Fatalis". Teddy tells Grace that he's glad Frank fired him. Teddy says, "I'm finally free of him. We can be together now." Grace says, "You know I can't leave John. He's like a son to me." Teddy says, "And me! He'll come with us. That was always the plan." Grace says, "Teddy, the plan was to get him out of his contract. And unless that happens, we're going nowhere. Not while Frank's still around." She said that she grew up with four red setters and a Labrador. She and DS Jamie Winter develop romantic feelings towards one another. At the end of series 19 she has taken a job in Montreal. [5] Dr. Fleur Perkins [ edit ] Gerald tells Barnaby that Camilla has been a bit emotional of late. Barnaby says, she would be, being pregnant. Gerald says, "It's exactly why it's not the right time to be thinking about a divorce. You saw the way Sebastian treated her the other night and it's not an isolated incident. I'm ashamed to say my son is a bully." Barnaby says, "Iris Holman says that Sebastian is not your son." Gerald says, "Oh, that woman really has become very bitter. He was fathered by another man before my wife walked out on me and Sebastian." Sebastian's natural father was a playboy and drank himself to death. So Gerald raised another man's child. Gerald says, "I raised my son. Which is why I feel responsible for the way he's treating that poor girl."
