Description

The Fujifilm XF 23mm F/2 is one of four newer lenses that Fujifilm have produced. The remaining three include the Fujifilm XF 50mm F/2, Fujifilm XF 35mm F/2, and the Fujifilm XF16 mm F/2.8. The Fuji 23mm f2 is designated as WR for Weather Resistant. And when combined with an X-Pro2 or X-T2 you’ve got a weather resistant system that I wouldn’t hesitate to use under any weather condition. Now, I wouldn’t submerge my camera under water but it’s nice to know I don’t need to run for cover at the first sign of rain. This slim, hardworking, affordable lens is compatible with all Fujifilm X-Series interchangeable system cameras. It’s perfect for beginner photographers, ideal for bloggers, and is a must for street photographers. Chromatic aberration doesn’t seem to be an issue for the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 R WR lens, with it being extremely difficult to find any examples of purple fringing occurring in any of the test shots. Light Fall-Off and Distortion It also has a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.13x. The aspherical elements are positioned, so the image plane is flat, providing edge-to-edge sharpness.

This means that it will provide a wide field of view, making it ideal for landscape and architectural photography. Additionally, the xf 23mm f2 has a minimum focal length of 2mm. This is good news for close-up photographers, as it means that they will be able to get close to their subject while still being able to capture a wide scene. XF 23mm f2 Review Lens Construction

Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 Sample Photos

When the Fujifilm XF 23mm F/2 is attached to any Fujifilm X Series body, it feels like a perfect match. This size and weight balance well, since most Fujifilm X Series camera bodies are more compact than a lot of brands, even in the mirrorless market. Both lenses are pretty well-behaved in both regards, at least for the out-of-camera JPEGs. The only thing to note is a minor difference in geometry, with a small pincushion from the XF 23mm f2 and a small barrel from the XF 23mm f1.4 – certainly nothing to be worried about.

The blue column represents readings from the centre of the picture frame at the various apertures and the green is from the edges. The 23mm, f2 X-series lens does have a free-spinning manual focus ring. This ring has no real hard stops, so you can’t really tell which stop you’re on. Fuji 23mm f2 Sharpness of Street Photography is all about failure. To be honest: sometimes, at the end of a day, I don’t have a single shot that I really really like, but on other days I come home with two or more. That’s the part of the game of street photography. When I'm shooting dancing for example, I'm usually zone focusing and setting a relatively fast shutter speed of 1/125 or even faster. I found I needed that extra stop of light. But remember, I shoot with available light - if you use strobes, then this will be a mute point. The reason for this is simple: I wanted a camera with a good design, fast and accurate autofocus, a good video quality, interchangeable lenses, an easy way for dialling in manual mode, good high ISO shots, and most importantly, a system I can rely on. I found all of this in the Fuji X-T3.
