The original purpose of this Caribbean Rum was to impart flavour, preparing empty whisky casks for the final phase of maturation. Yes indeed banana, slight ethanol taste, however the banana doesn't smell like modern banana but the original banana (Gros Michel) instead of the modern Cavendish, so it is much closer to the smell of those banana sweets.
