When taking on a paving job, a balance must be achieved between choosing a patio grout that will last more than a few months and one that doesn’t take you over budget. Some epoxy grout products come with liquid resin, hardener and sand. Others come with a resin mixed with a sand compound and a hardener mixed with a sand compound. The latter needs water added. The resin and hardener will need to be mixed together in the correct ratio so that the grout will set properly. Use Geo-FixÒ All Weather Jointing Compound within 45 minutes of opening. In temperatures exceeding 25oC, the material must be used within 30 minutes of opening the bag. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. One thing you should watch for when using this compound is the drying time. I have seen anything up to just under a week for it to be fully cured. So if you’ve laid new stone on sand I would give a little time to settle anyway. It won’t be a problem if it rains though, this product holds up just fine.

Two-part epoxy grout isn’t usually the cheapest joint compound available. Still, the solid setting provided by this material is incredibly durable and will prevent weed growth and erosion from damaging your paving joints. 3. Exterior Tile Grout You’ll probably want one tub if you have a patio around 15m2. I know they say you can get 20m2 but if you have wider and deeper joints then it’ll not go as far. My patio area is about 6 metres by 4 metres and I used two tubs to give you an idea of my experience. If your tiles are made from a porous material, consider applying a sealant before brushing in. Buff-coloured grout is a common choice for porcelain tiles and light-coloured stone. This off-white/beige coloured grout is an excellent choice for lightly shaded paving. Grey Any residue left on the surface when cured can be simply cleaned off by sweeping with a stiff brush. Coverage Some resin and polymer-based patio grouts can take longer to cure but provided the joints are solid and dry to the touch, 24 hours should be long enough for them to hold weight. How Long Does Patio Grout Take to Dry? Can be used on joint widths of a minimum of 5mm wide and a minimum of 15mm deep. Semi‐rigid allowing for expansion and contraction of paving.
