From time to time carriers may deliver earlier or later, or on non working days however this is cannot be guaranteed nor should it be expected. The tongue is still not gusseted so it slides laterally. The premium tongue gusset is only featured on the top of the range Glycerin. Version 14 feels more versatile and more performance-oriented than version 13 because of its streamlined upper, snappier forefoot and its new full DNA Loft midsole. After 80 kilometers in the Ghost 14, I’ve noticed that outsole durability is however below average compared to other daily trainers so if you’re particularly hard on outsoles, stay away from the Ghost. There’s a popular saying that goes something like, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

There’s nothing wrong with a Margherita: it’s a proven flavour combination and it goes down well. You won’t get a funky-tasting processed sausage or cheap, frozen seafood on your Margherita. One of the forefoot grooves is now partially filled with rubber. This makes the forefoot less flexible and feel more snappy during transitions. The biggest update is the change of mesh. It feels thinner, more breathable and gives the Ghost 14 a more streamlined feel but it’s still a warm upper that’s more suited to cooler climates. As a daily trainer weight is not usually a key issue to stress about, but this shoe would be more interesting at 8.5-9 ounces. Built heavy-duty The last gripe on the ride is the 12.4mm drop. As a generalist shoe built for the masses, this is just too much drop. It needs to be 6-8 to work well for the majority of runners I think. It feels steep and I just hate steep drop shoes unless they have a specific reason for being so. Ready to go straight from the boxThe grip is great. There’s lots of rubber under the shoe with a variety of textures and siping. It had no problems on my runs and should work on anything you throw at it, rain or shine. While this may seem like a big update on paper, the ride experience is strikingly similar to the Ghost 13. As for me, the only issue I have wuith them is that the outsole is wearing a little faster than I would’ve liked, but not by much. They’re lasting longer than my Nike Pegasus 39’s did. Besides that complaint, my Ghost 14’s have been phenomenal. I feel great all throughout my runs in them, and I run anywhere from 25-30 miles every week. I even use them for walking some days and they make for excellent walking shoes.

As a training shoe, it’s likely to be used on night runs or in low-light situations so I wish the designers had considered that more. The thinner mesh also makes the forefoot feel more spacious but it fits true to size. It’s available in 4 different men’s widths and 3 women’s widths if you need them. It’s one of the best shoes I’ve tested for long runs because of its excellent stability, high level of cushioning and its comfortable upper.

The new headline feature of the Ghost 14 is that it now has a full DNA Loft midsole compared to the 13 that only had a half DNA Loft midsole.

I really don’t get why almost every review on here says “knee pain” in it. I’ve had absolutely no knee pain whatsoever (not even a hint of it) and I’ve put about 200 miles onto these shoes so far. I also weigh over 200lbs, so if it’s anyone’s knees that should be hurting, it’s mine. The 3D Fit Print upper provides both stretch and structure where needed, allowing the shoe to conform comfortably to the individual foot shape. By using a GORE-TEX Invisible Fit membrane that is bonded directly to the upper material, the fit and flexibility remain whilst cold rain and puddles are kept out. All applicable customs and import duties and any other charges are the responsibility of the customer. The Glycerin used to be the only Brooks trainer with a full DNA Loft midsole but now that the Ghost 14 also has one, the Ghost represents much better value.

Delivery timescales are based on working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. The initial wear of the outsole rubber, especially on the heel area shows rapid wear after the first couple of runs, however after that, the wear tapers. I did see Brooks makes this in one fun colorway, a killer neon green, good for you brooks to step out and try something new. Night runners If you wanted to run a marathon in the Ghost 14 and you weren’t worried about your time, you definitely could. I did 42 kilometres in it and it performed brilliantly. This shoe only has one reflective element on the heel, even though it looks like there are reflective elements on the side, they didn’t actually reflect light.

There’s absolutely no need for break-in in the Ghost 14, Brooks made this shoe ready to take out of the box and do a 5K on day one if needed. Ghost 14 could be lighterThe only time I ever run in a 12 mm drop is when I’m testing the Ghost. While it might put some people off, I don’t mind the high drop. It’s neither too soft nor too firm, its upper is comfortable no matter what foot type you have and it has a remarkably stable ride for a neutral shoe.
