Yes, but it just worked, and I have to say, in comparison to the previous book, that the author improved his writing in this matter.

This 22-year-old UK native is steadily making a name for himself with not only his YouTube book vlog, but also his Instagram account . From the bestselling author Ben Alderson comes a fantastical and spicy reimagining of the Hades and Persephone tale. I haven't read the first book in this universe, so my lack of knowledge about the world may be because of that. A small child dies, then an entire servants quarters catches on fire, killing more children and servants, two of Faenir's relatives die, then Myrinn dies, then Claria dies and to top it all off, Arlo dies and becomes a vampire. I understand Gildir and Frila, as it was clear from the beginning that we were never supposed to like them, however Myrinn's betrayal was just so unnecessary.I may have read this book in a day, but that was more out of if I don't finish it now, I never will. Vi en una reseña de una estrella que decía algo como "ugh, that's too gay", y debo decir que ese es el punto.

Not to mention that out of all the times they do hook up, there isn't a single instance where they practice safe sex. Ben Anderson has a wonderful way of crafting a world that is full of exceptional characters and fascinating plots. It’s insufferable and so unbelievably unrealistic you couldn’t even use the “it’s a fantasy novel” excuse to explain it. The main characters jumped super quickly from hatred to adoration (in an unbelievable way) and the plot lost me around the halfway mark. Because, like…if the reason you’re emotionally invested in this person is just because you can safely bang, then that could be anybody right there. It took all of four pages before Arlo was sobbing in Faenir's arms and all his reason's for not liking Faenir are forgotten. Again, this heeds back to the lack of detail and rushed writing) and then somehow this turns him into a vampire. It was the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 at the time (at least this is what my review says). That is usually fine with retellings but the political aspect in this story didn’t work for me either since the world building for the elves was not fletched out at all so I couldn’t care less for who the ruler would be because we didn’t know what their impact was like. The author did an amazing job in keeping interest throughout and creating an emotional understanding and bond for the characters in it.

And of course Arlo is the only one who won't die, so he must be the rightfully mate, his one love right? Unless faerie saliva has magic sex-convenient properties, these two are signing up for a truly distracting amount of friction burn over time. You wouldn't want to walk out without any clothes on and looking like well, looking like you did what you just did. It is a nice stand alone, MM fantasy retelling based on Hades and Persephone; although it does tie into LoEN nicely. One for the author, two for the cool idea, three for being same-gender Hades and Persephone retelling and four for this amazing, beautiful, AWESOME cover. The whole plot was too easy and convenient, I predicted everything and wasn't surprised in the slightest at what's happening. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

The reviews and comments posted on this site reflect the opinions of individual posters and do not reflect the views of Cannonball Read. I've read almost all of his published works at this point and have seen many of his social media posts. It’s a fascinating impetus for a relationship: one man thinks his all-powerful magic makes him a monster until he finds that he’s still human after all, and the other thinks that he’s frail and burdensome until he discovers that he can bring seemingly infinite power to its knees with a touch. Ben lives in Oxfordshire and, when not writing, can be found reading, taking Winston - his Labrador - out for long walks, or obsessing over Marvel’s The Scarlet Witch. King of Immortal Tithe is a complete, M/M *stand-alone novel*, inspired by Hades x Persephone… but if Hades fell in love with Persephone’s brother instead.
