This is a good start to a greenhouse gardening, once you are feeling more comfortable you can move to a mini greenhouse growing. The 8 watt heating element keeps the soil warm and is ideal for seeds that benefit from bottom heat. Even when you place the indoor greenhouse by the window, you still need to light up the plants to get a sufficient amount of light, especially when winter is coming. They can be used to prepare plants before taking them outdoors to a larger greenhouse, potted for a verandah or prior to giving a permanent home in the ground. A non-electric propagator is simply a seed or modular tray with a transparent lid that aims to provide seeds and young plants with a consistent growing environment.

As long as you water it regularly, open the window of the greenhouse to allow the air to circulate, and place it by the window, the plants will grow.Whether you’re starting seeds off in these cold, winter months, encouraging cuttings to root or raising tender plants originally from warmer climates, a heat source will help create the best conditions to nurture them. Peppers need a warm environment with plenty of direct sunlight to grow, so are ideal for window box planting on a sunny, south-facing windowsill; add them to the list of crops to grow as a greenhouse idea, or nurture them in a sheltered spot in a courtyard garden or as a balcony garden idea. Perfect for growing your own plants, fruits, or vegetables, we have a variety of different plastic greenhouses on offer to suit your gardening needs. Once the plants have reached 10cm high, transfer them into 20-25cm (5-7 litre) pots, depending on the variety, filled with fertile, well-drained compost, and grow under glass in a sunny, sheltered spot,' says Craig Wilson. Non-electric propagators are a lot cheaper than a heated propagator, but without the extra, regulated warmth and bottom heat that you get in a heated propagator, growth will be slower and less consistent.

The vent is a useful feature, which helps control humidity levels, and though its footprint is small, its clearance is 12cm, which is plenty of room for young plants to get started. The lid helps to increase the humidity within as well as generate and trap warmth, particularly if placed in a sunny spot. However, there are actually four types of indoor greenhouse that these can further split down into – and it’s all about the build and material used.

Peppers are among the most popular veg for use in a multitude of dishes or added raw to salads, and with supermarkets experiencing shortages, now is the time to try growing peppers in pots. Although you are going to place it inside the house, you have to make sure it gets a sufficient amount of sunlight. Your peppers will still not be prepared for being outside at this point and will need to be kept inside, either on a windowsill, in a conservatory or moved into a greenhouse/cold frame.
