Description

In early September 2021, Hyperice announced that they were morphing into a “ holistic high-performance wellness brand.” At this occasion, they also decided to changed the logo, now the slanted “H” letter (which, by the way, looks very similar to the new Formula 1 logo, and it so happens that F1 is sponsored by the archrival Therabody. A fun coincidence, no?). New Hyperice logo. Both these brands have equipped their devices with pressure sensors. But, Hypervolts take a much simpler approach compared to what Theragun does. Theragun hit the market first. All that talk about first-mover advantage, Theragun probably made a lot of strides before Hyperice came onto the scene with their maiden device. The first Theragun was unveiled in 2016, while the first Hypervolt didn’t show until 2018. Hypervolt chargers have built-in PEN fault protection which means they can be connected to a PME (TN-C-S) incoming service which shares Neutral & Earth in the same conductor. There is no requirement to install an additional earth rod. In the event that the Protective Earth and Neutral (PEN) conductor becomes damaged/disconnected our PEN Fault system will isolate all conductors to protect the user from potential danger a PEN fault presents. Theragun doesn’t advertise the battery capacity on their devices but we speculate it be between 2500mAh and 3200mAh – similar to Hypervolts. Theragun PRO has detachable battery, but no longer comes with 2 batteries included.

Hyperice Hypervolt 2 - Featuring Quiet Glide Technology

We can’t tell for sure whether the motor information (60 Watt same as the old device) isn’t correct or whether this new device has been compromised somehow. However, we expected this new device to offer a bit more power.

The Hypervolt Home 2.0 is a premium home charger at an accessible price. It’s thoughtfully designed, with a neat LED status light ring, a built-in cable tidy, Alexa voice control and Wi-Fi + 4G connectivity. The app is also outstanding. The control panel has also been redesigned to include a control button, the 3 speed LEDs, 3 more LEDs just below the main button for the pressure sensor, and a Bluetooth connection indicator. There is also a new logo on the side (a slanted “H”) perhaps an indication of the different approach taken by the company. However, we like Theragun more because you can easily set custom speeds apart from the fixed 5. That is not the case with Hypervolt. You have the 5 or 3 speeds and that’s it! Both apps are well thought out, but we prefer the Therabody app. It’s sleeker and more user-friendly. For instance, it will not show you routines for an unknown device, which is what the Hyperice app does.

Thanks to over-the-air updates, the firmware is updated for you. The Hypervolt app displays the current firmware version in the settings panel. Hypervolt updates the firmware every few weeks on average. Voice control Both Hypervolts’ batteries are advertised to last for 2 to 3 hours per single charge, depending on how you use them. 2 Pro’s battery may last 30 or so minutes less due to its increased power output – it’s a more powerful device. However, we’d say they both perform about the same. You can dim and turn off the LED status lights if you wish, although we’d keep them on, otherwise, it’s impossible to tell what mode the charger is in without looking at your smartphone. All in all I’m very impressed so far. I will be interested to see how it performs over time. So I shall see what it’s like to live with it over the next few months.

A Quick Look at the Hypervolt Massage Gun

In the weight category, Theraguns have a slight edge. Both Prime and Elite weigh a reasonable 2.2lbs. The largest Pro weighs 2.8lbs. Although the lighter Hypervolt weighs an impressive 1.8lbs, the Elite-counterpart, Hypervolt 2 Pro bulks to 2.6lbs. If you consider the T shape, you’re not just getting a power tool, it’s a heavy one as well. Triangular vs T-Shape design types. Home 2.0 Operating and Installation Hypervolt Home 2.0 EV Charger Operating and Installation Manual Theraguns bring more muscle, boast a high amplitude, and throw in some nicer gear (like a handy carrying case!).

The charger is extremely easy to use with all charging modes and data accessible via the excellent Hypervolt app (more on this below). For Hypervolts, there are 5 attachments for each of the two regular-sized devices. For the Go, there are only 2 attachments included. For Theraguns, there are 4 attachments for Prime, 5 for Elite, 6 for Pro. There are now three attachment for the new Mini 2.0 (the previous mini had only one). Theragun mini looks pretty unique. It does’t have a traditional handle, yet still keeps the triangular shape. When it comes to the materials, it feels just like the Prime. There are two methods of connecting the Hypervolt to an electrical supply (Connection Method 1 or 2) which can be done using a further two methods of wiring (1 Wire Method or 2 Wire Method). However, it’s better equipped with a nice carrying case. Bob and Brad included 5 awesome attachments and made one a bit special. Instead of going with a generic flat attachment, they chose to include a metallic one that can be heated or frozen for a hot or cold massage. In our opinion, and by comparison with other devices, Hypervolt 2 doesn’t seem to have more than 25lbs. of stall force – which is incredibly low if the market standards are anything to go by. Even at the highest speed, this device stalls rather easily – almost instantaneously when pressure is applied, especially on the first two speeds. Both these brands have made their devices stand out with proper materials. They feel good to touch with rubberized handles. Theraguns on the other hand have a different shape but somewhat similar measurements. Elite measures 9.5” x 6.7” x 2.8”. Prime is slightly smaller than Elite. Pro is the largest of the 3 by about 0.5” more. Also, because it doesn’t have a removable battery like the older Hypervolt, or the new Hypervolt 2 Pro, it may not be a good choice for physiotherapists and chiropractors.
