In truth, most of it is about as deep as a puddle but it is a great slice of old fashioned goodies and baddies like they do not make any more. Finally, some goofy villains seems to be teaming up, making his life much more hellish than they normally would. The alcoholism aspect of Tony Stark's character will play a bigger role in later tales - here the serious breakdown and recovery only takes one issue.

Eventually the actual military comes and Roxxon's owner blows up the island, because he's selfish and he believes that if he doesn't have the Vibranium, no one should. Hammer escapes, and Iron Man flies into the air and crashes down, damaging the island and causing it to sink.The final pages where we see Tony resist the temptation to drink again was powerful and a wonderful pay off to the journey we've just been through. Because it's just stupid bits of fluff, an example of that is Iron Man's boot stops working so he crashes then after looking at his boot goes nope it's ok any flies off.

What else does this offer, a Mary Jane clone and some cool villains who are treated like incompetent idiots.

The story opens with Iron Man and Namor teaming up against Roxxon Oil, an evil petroleum conglomerate in the Marvel universe. I read the comics presented in this compilation over 30 years ago so it was a pleasure to re-discover this beautiful story arc.
