Description

Euphoria is a worker placement game with dice-rolling elements and limited resource fields. It’s one of the finest games made by Jamey Stegmaier and Alan Stone, even though it doesn’t rate as highly on Board Game Geek as you’d expect. Once the game board is setup and each player has their colored pieces, then everyone is dealt 4 recruit cards. Each player selects two of these and then choose one of them to be active at the start of the game. The second card is then placed face down in front of the player. Each recruit will belong to one of the 4 factions and have a unique ability. Unless you roll the same number on multiple dice, you get to place one per turn. Workers will gather or trade resources, construct markets among many actions.

Things aren't that simple, however, as you must contend with the game's 4 factions, as well as your own workers' morale and intelligence. The four factions each control one section of the city, with each section specializing in one resource and one commodity each. You have two recruits on your side who are from the different factions, and you can only gain access to benefits from the factions as long as you have an active recruit that belongs to said faction. You also have to build structures in each factions area that allow you both to place authority stars and gain new resources.Euphoria is a dice placement game where the dice represent your workers and the dice faces the worker’s knowledge. Being a Dystopia, knowledge isn’t always a good thing. You want your workers to accept what you say, if they become clever (self-aware) they will revolt against you giving you less workers and a cost to retrieve that worker. Euphoria – In the box All our games have wide player count ranges (with 5-7 different numbers supported in each game). That range is not the full story, though. To see what I mean by that let’s look at some data about Euphoria on boardgamegeek.com: Each player now rolls their 2 dice and the person that gets the highest value goes first. Throughout the game, you’ll roll your dice often, and once rolled, their value is fixed until you get to reroll. Never fiddle with your dice, even when they’re sitting next to the board! Morale & Knowledge

While it’ll be the seventh Stonemaier solo mode published it actually started development just after the first one we made (Viticulture), but it was repeatedly overtaken by other projects. The upshot of that is that we’ve learned a lot in the meantime and have applied that to make the version that is in the Ignorance is Bliss box.You can also visit the worker activation tank, where you can recruit an additional worker and increase morale or reduce knowledge, depending on the resource used. Additional Mechanics We also added a double-sided reference card to be placed on the board: One side for ongoing rule reminders and the other for setup reminders. You may have noticed that I (Jamey) am not the designer of the expansion. That may seem a bit odd, as I designed the original game of Euphoria. Didn’t I have ideas for ways to expand it?

As you can see from the photos, the expansion components fit into the trays–there’s even room to spare in the bottom tray. We have heard from exactly 1 person that they struggled to get the new tray into their original Euphoria box. I’m not sure why, as the boxes are all the same size, but if this happens to you, trimming the bottom edge of the tray with scissors solves the problem. We took this to heart when designing our solo mode, but before I get to that let me briefly explain how our solo modes work.Whenever you retrieve workers, you will have to reroll them. If the sum of dice values, plus the knowledge value is equal to or higher than 16, you will lose a worker dice.
