Unlike many authors who do not have a favorite novel, Avery Keelan has said that her favorite novel is “Rules of the Game.” There were a lot of parts that just never came to fruition. He never ever meets her parents, but does something pretty big to help them. Even in the epilogue there is no mention of ever meeting them. This was so odd to me. Nash and Violet were a pretty good couple. The trope was definately ex-lovers-lovers to friends-friends to lovers. i’ve been living my best life with a massive headache. in other words: a dry spell, a book slump, that doesn’t want to quit no matter what. They get together early, so early that I was truly concerned with where she would go with this because it was a big book. She could have taken out so much of them in their happy phase (especially since the break up is late and doesn’t last long) and focused more on developing the conflict.

Since he broke her heart, she know better than to fall for the man moreover the college had imposed a strict no-fraternization policy between athletes and their trainers. Before we know it, the boundaries begin to blur until we can't see them anymore. But with so much on the line, I'm risking a lot more than just my heart this time.

For example, there was no “he smiles for the first time” moment OR “i haven’t heard him laugh before bc he’s so grumpy but now he is and it’s magical” moment EITHER. Oohh, where to begin, where to begin. I think I'll start off by saying that this was a good book. It's a great book, and I cannot be more thankful to have received an ARC to read it a bit earlier than everyone. This was one of those books that once you were hooked in, you could not put it down. I really really found it hard to put down but at the same time, I wanted to put it down because I didn't want it to be over. I also really loved their cooperation with each other. Violet wasn't the only patient one, Nash was as well. He tried his best to be the guy Violet deserved, he went out of his comfort zone and even tried opening up little by little so there would be no fatal mistakes again. The whole aspect of Nash only loving her and only showing himself to her was one of the best parts of this book, I couldn't get enough of it. Her stories contain happily ever afters with lovable characters, snarky banter, and enough steam to fog up a mirror. Plus, of course, a hefty dose of drama and angst along the way. The heroine having a hard time having an O was definitely unique and I loved how the hero handled it.

However, fate seems to conspire against her as she is assigned to have her senior athletic internship with her ex’s team. She will now be working closely with Nash, the only man she ever loved but who had left her in a heap in her freshman year. Chase was the star of the book for me. He’s funny, filthy, protective and honestly hot af. Everything else just felt very drawn out yet not quite fully flushed out. I still enjoyed it because I really do like character driven novels focused on the couple, and I’m down to try the next book in the series when it comes out. Early on, Keelan went to college where she studied Psychology and Commerce, specializing in government legislation and policy. After graduation, she went on to work for the government but always desired to become a fiction author. Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. The conflict was not threaded throughout the plot enough. It would be non existent and then, bam, a chapter with one of the exes, and then they would go away and all would be well. The build of the conflict needed to start earlier and have a better build up. Because so much of the book was them in their happy phase, a lot of it read like we were just following along on their daily lives, little to no plot, character or relationship development. Her little white lie puts her in the crosshairs of Satan in a suit in the name of Bennet Bradford. He is a handsome man with a rough heart and she learned this the hard way. I loved the aspect of Chase’s story that we don’t normally see in a sports romance. Very interesting to see the male POV and have a bit of role reversal.

no condom - they do talk safety and both say they’ve never gone without protection with anyone else - h is on BC

It was good but idk I feel like the sex tape scandal should have been something more. It was really played down on what happened after being hyped up about what could happen. The medical issue with Bailey seemed weird. It was randomly brought up, then never again, and then asked about at the end. I don’t understand why the large gaps between the information. It also added nothing to the story or her character, especially after it is revealed what it is. There was mention of Bailey having trouble having Os. His response was amazing, but I expected this to play out in the bedroom, but nope. Immediately orgasming with him every single time. I really wanted it to happen because we never ever see this. Women don’t always have orgasms or struggle to have them, and it would have been so amazing to see this in a book.

Overall, I enjoyed the writing and the characters and I loved the couple. Those things saved the book for me, but there are definitely some developmental issues for me, which would make you think I would maybe DNF or not read another book but something keeps me holding out hope that the story telling will get better because I really enjoy the style and characters she creates. Lots of mention of bending her over and taking her but it was always so sweet. It was more the fact that he said it repeatedly and it just never happened. I felt set up for some explosive scenes and was just so sweet all the time. Bottom Line? It was ok. I think there was a lot of fluff that could have been paired down. I skimmed a lot of the last 60%. But I finished. 🤷🏼‍♀️. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Their story is cute, the banter between them is hilarious, and the spice is 👌🏻, but the book took a hot minute to get into and I almost DNF. Plus the whole Luke/Kristen drama was a little over the top for me, and felt too drawn out. Overall though, I ended up loving it once it Moreover, the coach knows too much about him and he is sure the last thing he would want is for him to date his daughter. His avoidance strategy has been working but then Vaugun starts failing calc and he finds himself being tutored by Luna Ward.
