Description

James Adams himself is a very flawed human being, with a violent temper, repeatedly cheats on his girlfriends, has sexist and minor homophobic tendencies (at least at the beginning), and loves getting into trouble with the law (with indications that, if it weren't for CHERUB, he'd be spending a lot of life behind bars), but he (usually) has good intentions at heart, and he's often up against guys who kill and/or torture people without remorse. Mistaken for Cheating: In Brigands MC, Dante Scott is introduced as an old friend of Lauren's from training, who was on a mission for three years. Lauren is naturally overjoyed to see him, but her boyfriend, Rat, gets very jealous and accuses her of cheating on him (she wasn't).

The CHERUB series has won numerous awards, including the Red House Children’s Book Award. For more information on Robert and his work, visit www.muchamore.com At the end of Mad Dogs, the Runts and Slasher Boys are still active, Major Dee and a couple of the Mad Dogs have escaped and Michael lets the Runt who stabbed Gabrielle run off. This is how Keith Moore from Class A determines worthy street dealers. He deliberately sends recruits on a fake drug deal where they're confronted at gunpoint by some of his goons in a staged robbery. If you get hysterical, you're out, but if you still want to prove your worth afterwards, Keith will know you have the determination for it. Kerry and James are the first ever to Take a Third Option: hunting down and taking revenge on the guy who robbed them. This immediately puts them into good graces with Keith and most of his organization (minus the guy who they took revenge on, for obvious reasons) because it was so impressive. Refuge in Audacity: Michael Patel tends to go overboard when arresting perps. In one instance, he deliberately slams James' head into the top of his police car's door. Patel is smart enough to know that he can get away with any accusations of police brutality by dismissing the claims as racism against an ethnic cop, causing the case to boil down to a policeman's word against a criminal's. This gives him the perfect cover to keep doing it.Muchamore, Robert (2011). People's Republic. Aramov. Vol.1. Hodder & Stoughton. ISBN 978-1-4449-0610-3. The Killing: A small-time crook suddenly comes into some money → a casino robbery involving corrupt cops and the murder of a teenager to cover it up.

Junior being an absolute mess is a harsh reminder that James could of ended up this way without CHERUB in his life. The conversation between Bruce and James regarding it really shows the boys are growing up. Junior getting sent down by his old pal James is a tough one. James says Juniors more than just someone on a mission and doesn't want to grass him in. His morality is really put to the test and I wonder if this is highlighted in a mission report ? Cherub agents are aged between 10 and 17. They live in the real world, slipping under adult radar and getting information that sends criminals and terrorists to jail.

The setting of the mission is great and it is interesting to see the power struggle over Luton following Keith Moore getting sent down. I spoke about this in my Class A review, KGM was probably the lesser of two evils for the Luton community. The violence that erupted in the wake of a power struggle caused far more damage. You wouldn't have seen the slasher boys attempt to butcher fields of football teams in KGM days. The series can be considered something of a deconstruction of the teenage spy series, as it takes great care to consider the repercussions of the Cherubs being teenagers, and hence not always particularly responsible. Quite a lot. Nobody realises kids do undercover missions, which means they can get away with all kinds of stuff that adults can’t. The Sleepwalker: An anonymous call to the police where the caller changed his mind and hung up without saying anything → a conspiracy to supply faulty parts to airline companies, leading to a plane crash that kills 345 people. To ensure that as many people as possible made the drop smoothly, the most confident trainees – mainly ones who’d jumped when they were red-shirts – were lined up first. As soon as the first trainee was out the next had to stand with their toes overhanging the door. After waiting in a crouching position for the two seconds it took the previous jumper to clear the aircraft, it was their turn to leap.

Government Agency of Fiction: CHERUB is obviously fictional, and MI-5 is frequently depicted in a fictionalized way. The Xus, a couple of Chinese Triad bosses who show up in Shadow Wave to buy weapons from the Fuhrer and get arrested alongside him. James arrives at CHERUB the night after his twelfth birthday and, after learning how to swim under the guidance of Amy Collins, immediately enters Basic Training. He is paired with eleven-year-old Kerry Chang, who has lived at CHERUB since age seven and whose parents died when she was three (when she was placed in a succession of children's homes). Kerry assists James with her well-honed skills and sheer determination, whilst in return, she asks him to help protect her injured knee. Throughout basic training he develops a strong bond with Kerry as well as the six other recruits, Shakeel Dajani, Mo, Gabrielle O'Brien, Callum Reilly, Connor Reilly and Nicole Eddison. James and Dana have one in The Fall after Dana admits that she has a crush on James, leading to them making out and almost having sex.

Activities & resources

Initially, the series follows James Choke, better known as James Adams (his adopted name at CHERUB), as he enters CHERUB and performs various missions. However, the focus later expands to other characters, such as James' sister Lauren and several other characters who work alongside him and in separate missions. The initial series of 12 novels runs from the recruitment of Adams aged 11 to his retirement from CHERUB at age 17. The second series of five novels, Aramov, follows Ryan Sharma, another CHERUB agent; James Adams reappears in this series as a CHERUB staff member. Brian "Bungle" Evans, the leader of the eco-terrorists, escapes from MI5 and the police in The Recruit, but reappears in Divine Madness as the main antagonist Susie's lover. At the end, they both seemingly escape in Susie's private plane, but a news report reveals that the Australian Secret Service managed to capture them and Bungle is facing terrorism charges, as well as possible extradition. Harmful to Minors: Too many examples to list, but perhaps the worst involves a young child seeing his entire family brutally murdered.

Hassam Bin Hassam from The Sleepwalker is abusive towards his wife and son murdering the former and makes a fortune from reselling shoddy plane parts, which can cause plane crashes. He is also a hypocrite who preaches that his son must respect his heritage, but is happy to ignore it himself. Hassam is one of the few villains to be killed off instead of arrested, pulling a Suicide by Cop after taking his son hostage and having him subsequently freed by a CHERUB agent. Girl on Girl Is Hot: Two girls make-out at a Wild Teen Party in Brigands M.C., much to the delight of some of the teenage boys. This mission wouldn’t stretch the aircraft’s capacity: only twelve bodies would make the jump. Eight were ten-to twelve-year-olds nearing the end of CHERUB’s 100-day basic training course. James and Dana were senior CHERUB agents and the fi Use his previous connection to KMG to infiltrate the Mad Dogs gang to uncover their criminal activity and prevent a gang war (with Bruce Norris) (SUCCESS) ( Mad Dogs)

Over the years, Cherub has put plenty of criminals behind bars. Now, for the first time ever, they've got to break one out. This book dives deeper into the darker themes and tones set in The Fall as our characters grow up and the violence intensifies. In The Recruit, James begins his CHERUB career. After returning from basic training, he discovers his sister Lauren has also been recruited following the arrest of her father Ron Onions on various charges (including possession of drugs and stolen artefacts, and abusing a minor). James' tenth and final CHERUB mission is to infiltrate the South Devon branch of Brigands M.C., to gather intelligence on the branch's weapons-dealing business. He eventually becomes a member of the club, and goes along to a weapons deal with the club's leader, Ralph "Führer" Donnington, where they are ambushed by the police. Donnington attempts to escape but breaks his leg on the side of a cliff, and has to be helicoptered off by police.
