Description

One-Five-Four Four - an Eldar-controlled world, the Iron Hands fight to pacify the desert regions. The story takes place after the Emperor's quitting of the Great Crusade. Ferrus returned to the Medusan clans after his travels, filled with new and wonderful ideas, which he taught to all who wished to learn. He was able to craft strange and powerful tools and objects out of metal, shaping them with his living metal hands without even the need for a hammer or forge. Under his tutelage, the clans of Medusa became much stronger than they had been before his arrival and became capable of wonders that they never could have imagined possible. It was a time of greatness for the people of Medusa -- the civilisation of the clans advanced at a tremendous pace and the Medusan people became strong and proud. In particular, the warlike culture and renowned brutality of the population of Old Albia, which supplied substantial numbers of recruits for the X th Legion, had a great deal to do with the Legion's early character (as it also did for the XIV th Legion), lending them a fierce pride in a warrior ancestry that predated the Legion's Founding. Captive phase-gates, subatomic infusers and temporal loop shrouds can all exhibit similar effects to nanoscarab swarms. To a Necron Overlord, how these abilities work is of little concern, as long as they do. C'tan Shards can also shape powerful slashing or cutting blades from their bodies at will or shapeshift in such a way that they can appear to be a member of almost any species. If a C'tan Shard's necrodermis body is breached, the C'tan essence is released with a powerful explosion of energy that can damage nearby individuals or structures.

Ferrus Manus also led the bravest warriors of the clans to delve into the frozen realms below, breaking open long-sealed vaults and intruding into ice-buried fragments of the great machine-works that had plunged from the skies in ancient days in search of salvage and strong metal. In the depths, the warrior-bands and the silver-eyed giant who led them fought degenerate mutants, living-dead cyborgs whose decayed flesh hung in tatters from corroded metal bodies, and subdued the dark-engines of the nightmare ages that had gone before to take their plunder. By the time the Emperor had come to claim him for the Great Crusade, Ferrus Manus was warlord, demi-god and sage to the people of Medusa, and it is said that he was waiting, and that he more than half-suspected the true purpose of his creation. Liberation of Odissar — Iron Captain Rakk Golloth is slain when his gunship is downed by enemy fire. [53d] c. M41: The False Saint] — Elements of the Third Company lead the assault on the stronghold of the False Saint, the daemon-possessed body of Saint Drusus, on the storm-riddled dead world of Grangold in the Calixis Sector. Though wiped out in battle with the daemonic forces of Tzeentch, their actions allows elements of the Imperial Guard, led by agents of the Inquisition, to banish the False Saint and close the Warp portal the daemon was opening. [16] Originally known as the Storm Walkers [31] or Stormwalkers, [22a] the legion was created during the latter days of the Unification Wars on Terra. Recruitment bases at this time were spread widely all across the planet, but the warlike cultures of Albia in particular provided effective initiates for the Legion. The Legion's first instance of recorded combat was in the Sol system against a Mutant warband known as Scythers. Shortly thereafter they exterminated the Xenos Lyasx on the world of Oberath. While the Legion was victorious in both actions, they did not yet seem to specialize in any area of warfare. It was only during the invasion of the Ork-held Planet 02-34 (designated 'Rust') that the Legion's effectiveness in utilizing slow-moving mass firepower became apparent. [21a] Ferrus ManusManus finds himself in a cavern system, assaulted by various visions and other sensory perceptions of death; that of his legion, his colleagues and even his own. He also comes across metaphorical representations of his brothers, and is momentarily puzzled by the feelings of betrayal looking at the statue of Fulgrim engenders. Combined with all this, he feels pursued by a malignant, serpentine entity. Irritated by such witchery, he presses onwards in exploring the caverns. Sam: “ Guilliman was a pleasure to sculpt, as he’s very much the quintessential Space Marine. It was important to me to keep the silhouette very clean, which can be difficult when figures are armed with giant power fists. That’s why we went with a pose where he’s drawn the Gladius Incandor with his right hand, and the Hand of Dominion is holding the scabbard by his side, retaining the overall Space Marine form. His Armour of Reason is very ornate, with lots of intricate detailing – a mix of Ultramarines iconography and details influenced by Roman sculpture.” Perturabo, Primarch of the Iron Warriors

The Draken Scale– 2+ armour save , 3+ invulnerable save , halves the strength of any flamer , fusion , volkite, melta, or plasma weaponry used against him. The Iron Hands are infamous for their extensive use of bionics, which has helped bring them into a close relationship with the Adeptus Mechanicus. [9a] After the Horus Heresy, when the Legions were reorganized into Chapters, the Iron Hands became recluses, attempting to find ways to make themselves even stronger so that they would be fit for serving under Ferrus Manus again at the end of times. Many within the Chapter consider flesh to be a sign of weakness, and seek to expunge it from themselves through mechanical enhancement. [63b] To this end, they have made it a practice to make extensive use of bionic modifications, going so far that there are rumours of some battle brothers being wholly mechanical. Iron Hands consider the greatest honour they can receive is to be interred in Dreadnought armour. [9a] It is in the so-called Blessing of Iron ritual that the Iron Hands replace parts of their bodies with Bionics. [Needs Citation]Widowmaker volley R:12″ S:4 AP:5 Assault 3 , Lethal Precision ( precision strike on 4+ , to wound rolls of 6 ignore armour AND invulnerable saves ) The Iron Hands chose to isolate themselves from many of their fellow Adeptus Astartes Chapters after the Second Founding and slowly became bitter recluses, wielding their anger as a protective shield against a universe of growing weakness and insanity. It soon came to pass that none were immune from their ire. The Traitors had renounced their oaths and turned against their brothers, but the Loyalists had allowed it to happen, and the Emperor had fallen. Fulgrim declared the golden sword the equal of that borne by the legendary hero Nuada Silverhand, while Ferrus Manus had sworn that only the mighty thunder gods of Nordyc legend were fit to bear such a magnificent warhammer. Without another word spoken, both primarchs had swapped weapons and sealed their eternal friendship with the craft of their hands. Kristos - Iron Father and Clan Commander of Clan Raukaan, became corrupted during the Gaudinian Heresy. [22b] Sam: “ Fulgrim was designed to be released as part of a diorama – one half of a duel playing out between him and Ferrus Manus on Isstvan V, at that pivotal point in the Heresy. We depict him with the Blade of the Laer. Fulgrim was released first, while I worked on finishing Ferrus. With the Fulgrim sculpt it was very much about the flamboyance of the Emperor’s Children, the perfection of swordsmanship and the elegance of movement against the brute strength of Ferrus.” Ferrus Manus, Primarch of the Iron Hands
