And then out of the blue, a woman named Nora rents the cottage next to Suzi’s. Finally, Suzi doesn’t feel so alone. Suzi hopes that she can find a confidant in Nora, but what she doesn’t know is Nora already knows all of Suzi’s secrets and she is planning to use them against her… This was an excellent, emotionally fraught domestic suspense in the vein of The Wife Between Us--fans of that book will like this one, I think. It has a variety of women scorned and battered by controlling, dubious men, with lots of sordid, soapy details and a satisfying, unsettling ending. I was guessing the whole time as to how the messy interpersonal details would play out--and that's how I would describe this. Things get MESSY, in the most delightful way. Until more dramatic events bring them face to face and bring an awkward, tentative friendship to begin... Unknown Heart [ fr] (dir. Giles Foster, 2014), starring Greg Wise, James Fox, Jane Seymour and Julian Sands

The Other Wife by Claire McGowan | Goodreads

Suzi is pregnant and isolated living in a secluded area with her controlling husband. Suzi is delighted to have someone move in nearby, and soon becomes friends with the new resident, Nora. Her books are especially popular in Germany because the national television station ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) has produced more than a hundred of her stories as TV movies, starting with The Day of the Storm in 1993. A complete list can be found on the German Wikipedia: Rosamunde Pilcher (Filmreihe). These television films are some of the most popular programmes on ZDF. [11] [16] Pilcher was awarded the British Tourism Award in 2002 for the positive effect the books and the adaptations have had on Cornish tourism. [11] Notable film locations include Prideaux Place, a 16th-century mansion near Padstow. [16] This book kind of gave me isolated thriller vibes too, which I love! Even though this isn’t technically an isolated thriller, there were some aspects, like the fact it was mainly set in the middle of nowhere with a high chance of being snowed in at any point, it kind of gave me No Exit vibes at points! This story is about two women married to the same man. One married to him for 38 years and the other for 4 years. Unfortuntely neither of them are aware of his double life which is only realised as he is found dead in a motel room in seedy circumstances. Now two women are in distress and disbelief. This is the first novel I've read by Kathleen Irene Paterka but now I am on the hunt to find her earlier books! Holy cow! Kathleen grabbed me from the very beginning and never let me go. At first my heart was breaking for Eleanor but as I kept reading I soon saw Claire as a victim as well. Their story is heartbreaking and could be taken right out of the newspapers today. A man who decides one family isn't enough to keep him satisfied so he starts a second family. William and Olivia have been together twenty years. Olivia was once a tennis star, but her career has long since faded.

Review: The Other Wife by Michael Robotham - Booktopia Review: The Other Wife by Michael Robotham - Booktopia

This is a two parter and this review is based on the first part. I'll watch part two just to see how this plays out. But I think I know. William and Mary have been married sixty years. William is a celebrated surgeon, Mary a devoted wife. Both are strong believers in right and wrong.

This story truly depicts the challenges a woman might face after unexpectedly losing her husband, as well as the dynamics of how to handle all that comes with that loss. I also have something I need to get off my chest...I loathed Suzi's character. She was a thoughtless, vaguely ignorant airhead, who couldn't responsibly care for a dog. As a mom of four dogs myself, I found her character to be incredibly abhorrent. a b c d Bruns, Ann (11 August 2000). "Biography: Rosamunde Pilcher". Bookreporter.com . Retrieved 1 September 2012. I was a little nervous about this book as I’ve preferred Michael Robotham’s standalone books to his Joe O’Loughlin series. However this was deliciously addictive and I had to read it in a sitting, despite being unwell and incredibly tired after a long day at work. The characters of this book were great and the plot was good too. It moved a tad bit slow from what I like, but the story and twists were really good. There seemed to be a lot of chapters on Suzie and Nora too, Elle had a smaller share and I'd have loved to know more about the incidents from her past and what shaped her to be the person she was. The ending was fantastic. But there too, I'd have loved to more about how it came to be.
