New Bird Street oasis, Botanical Garden is a green space dedicated to the appreciation of Gin. Yes, we know it’s winter and this venue is currently closed, but how could we not include it in a guide to Gin?! We are counting down the days until its return in spring 2020. More info here. 4 – Love Lane Brewery, Bar & Kitchen Part three – make the espresso martini: you’ll need vodka, the coffee liqueur and sugar syrup and double strength coffee. Get a jar to use as a shaker, an egg cup and a sieve. Add approx. 40ml vodka (2 egg cups), 20ml of coffee liqueur, 40ml of strong coffee – stir and taste, then add a splash of sugar syrup and ice and shake. Red Door – Apple and Elderflower Cooler We really enjoyed our pale ale in here and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time.

Made with botanicals directly from our sand dunes and surrounding area, this coastal gin is like a refreshing beach walk in a glass. Serve with plenty of ice, a premium tonic water (because why tarnish a premium gin with anything less) and a slice of juicy lemon for the ultimate seaside G&T.Jenever Gin Bar is a very cool bar down Hope Street that I periodically drop into, tried the gins here on numerous occasions and the beers ,its a really good chill out bar. The Ginsmiths experience begins with a history of gin and gin distilling. We will take you on a tour of our own Liverpool distillery and introduce you to our own gin, Ginsmiths off Liverpool. You will learn about botanicals and how we source local ingredients before choosing which ones you will use in your gin. You will be guided through the distilling process at your own personal distilling station. Gin school will conclude with a tasting session of all the gins created before you take home your own distilled bottle of gin. Let’s be honest, everybody loves gin, whatever the weather, it’s always a refreshing tipple choice after a long day. By Natasha Ferguson They keep saying that the gin bubble is going to burst but instead it just keeps getting bigger, and so it should – it’s delicious!

I love the look of this bar, beautifully furnished and decorated tastefully throughout, there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside, a great bar indeed. In this city we love a bit of get up and go, an entrepreneurial spirit and of course, we love gin – so meet these 16 local gins you absolutely must sample (if you haven’t already of course)… Liverpool Gin Everything about the bottle felt luxurious, special, something definitely gift worthy for a special occasion. Now technically, although this is named after and inspired by a little-known area of Sicily, this gin flavoured with lemons, oranges and a pinch of sea salt is local. Created by the Carlisi brothers (of Carlisi bar on Dale Street) who are honorary scousers anyway, this is distilled right here in the city. Liverpool would be in a right state if it wasn’t for the EU, so the fact that the botanicals in this gin are authentically Sicilian makes it the perfect Scouse/European fusion. Serve with premium tonic, citrus garnish and plenty of sunshine – but be warned, you’ll have gone through a whole bottle before you realise.

Part one – make the coffee liqueur: add the sugar and water to a pan, heat and stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Add coffee granules, approx. 25g, and vanilla (add around a tablespoon if you like the flavour of vanilla). Pour coffee syrup into a jug to cool to room temperature, then put into a Kilner jar and add the vodka. Mix and leave somewhere cool and dark to infuse overnight. Every bottle of Liverpool Gin is produced in the heart of Liverpool City Centre at the Liverpool Gin Distillery. The distillery is home to two bars, one dedicated to gin and the other to dark spirits, as well as a seasonal kitchen, bartending school and gin laboratories where you can distil your own full-sized bottle of gin. Part two – cover a pan with a thin cloth (a J Cloth is fine) and pour liqueur through it to strain off the granules. Carefully remove the cloth, put on a low heat – don’t let it bubble. Taste and then add a pinch of salt to enhance flavours and keep stirring while on heat until it’s all dissolved.

I put both to the test and judged everything from flavour to aesthetics of the bottle, here’s what I found: Mermaid Pink Gin Despite being a gin lover, I’d never actually tried the pink variation, which is surprising considering a) it’s my favourite colour and b) it’s a nice fruity option. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale with a big hit of hops, very easy to drink and a beer style both myself and my twin brother Stephen are particularly fond of. Then, all you need to do is simply shake, top and pour in a gin balloon glass, with cubed ice. And relax! They say Gin is one of the healthiest drinks with the least amount of calories, making it perfect for your January diet!

We have to start with the OG right? This one put local premium gins on the map, and we must thank them for it. It’s beautiful in its original form but comes in a variety of flavours such as lemongrass and rose petals but the real hero in the stall is the Valencian Orange. While so many gins combine several fruits or flavours, Liverpool Gin likes to go in strong with one banging hero flavour and does it well. Based in the achingly cool Baltic Triangle, this fearless gin brand carefully selects its ingredients from around the globe. They have everything from super strength merchant navy gin (guaranteed to put hairs on your chest) to pink and fluffy style marshmallow gin and no list of amazing local gins would be complete without a nod to this fantastic brand. Join us for a gin distillery tour where you can discover how the character and culture of Liverpool is infused into each of our gins. You will learn about how we source local ingredients and combine them with exotic botanicals, carefully selected from around the world. Liverpool Gin is a premium organic gin producer who makes gin from scratch using pure certified organic botanicals, producing a highly distinctive, aromatic drink. The brainchild of Liverpool Organic Brewery managing director Mark Hensby and head distiller John O’Dowd.

Named for the iconic waterfront, this delicately flavoured gin has been a firm local favourite for years. It’s pink gin but not as you know it – instead of the more obvious berries they’ve chosen roses for their colour and sweetness. It’s as sophisticated as our glorious waterfront. Gin school includes tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival, a choice of burgers or pizza from our food menu and your own personally distilled gin to take home.
