Since my heels always felt loose, if I were to continue running in these, I would have to change my lacing pattern to lock in my heels. Depending on the color, the Structure 22s can be found in regular, wide (2E), and extra wide (4E) for men as well as regular and wide (D) for women. This mesh material lacks the rigid structure compared to many other stability shoes in which I have run. And personally, I consider it a model that will definitely remain in your head and help to solve your running problems if you have atypical feet predispositions. Unfortunately, even Air Zoom Structure 22 from Nike is not an exception and regarding my wider feet, I felt too snug.

When I say breathable, I run in sunny Las Vegas, and I’m telling you, the uppers ventilate nicely on those sweaty runs. The wider base works to slow down the rate at which your foot pronates and improve your performance while the triple layer foam offers all the support you need. I have run in Nike Structures since the 90s, relying on them largely for base mileage while using lighter/faster shoes for workouts and racing. They will be content with the newly designed upper along with new visual design of the Zoom Structure.I don’t know if it’s the thin laces, the Flywire cables, or the tongue not being thick enough, but I hate this. What was striking to me is that Nike have incorporated their Flywire technology, which is designed to lock in your feet. If you have had a good experience with your old shoes and have stayed injury free then you might, understandably, be reluctant to change brand or model. If the upper has split near the toe box you might want to consider going up a half a size or in some cases, change the width of your shoes.

Once I loosen them up, it’s much better, but there’s a fine line between locking my heel in to prevent slipping and not cutting across my feet. Almost every time I have run in the Structure 22s, I have re-laced one of them when putting them on or within the first quarter mile. For example, a standard width in a men’s shoe is a D width but the 2E width will be wider around the bridge and forefoot allowing the foot more room and therefore not creating friction that leads to the upper splitting and not supporting the foot correctly.

After this, it compresses and then more shock is being put through the body and this can lead to muscle fatigue and injuries.
